Jered Weaver chooses comfort over dollars
SI's Lee Jenkins breaks down Weaver's decision to stay in Angels red. He also brings up a pitch I've never even heard of, describing it as a "no-seamer" or "dry spitter."

It just gets better and better.
A man who learns from life’s tribulations also happens to be a pitcher who constantly hones his craft by learning from baseball’s lessons. Humble, competitive, and level-headed. Damn.

Jered Weaver chooses comfort and dollars over egregious dollars.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.
I think that once you start talking about multiple millions
You’re already into “egregious” territory. But the bottom line is that he could’ve gone for more, and he didn’t. It never says this, but if Jered wants to be considered for the HOF someday, what better way than to stay in Anaheim, which is a pitching-friendly park staffed by a manager that appreciates good defense and generally has the financial clout to hit better than the Padres, the OTHER team pitchers who want to go to Cooperstown should consider.
The Angels are, generally speaking, a fairly stable franchise, and that’s got to be worth sticking around for. You know who your manager is, and you know who the core of the team is, and you know those things are unlikely to change.

No doubt.
It’s a great story, and Weaver did leave 15-30 mil on the table (barring injury). But I think the press might be giving the impression that he will be pitching for peanuts, which, isn’t the case.

Jeff gave credit to Great Scot Shields for the No-Seamer at the post Announcment interview.
I was wondering about what type of contact the Angels have between the old guard, and the new. Getting advice, having past hero’s coming by to help out the new. Didn’t think we many, if any, of our own. But now I do.
Thank you for sticking around Jered. Maybe this will be the reason for others to stay. Maybe this will be the reason for others to become a part of our trAdition.
Not too fond of Jenkins' line:
“… and he would probably win the AL Cy Young Award this year if not for Detroit’s Justin Verlander.”
I get the feeling he’s saying that Verlander has the Cy Young in hand already.

He's pretty close
He’ll have a gaudy win total, a no-hitter, and many, many absolutely dominating performances. Weaver’s been great, but unless Weaver starts to throw the kind of games that the old school likes – hitters of the 4-and-below style, shutouts, and more wins.

to win it this year
Weave would have to make the rest of his starts CG’s. One No-No, and two one hitters.
Maybe next season Jered. Lets win the the whole kit-n-kabootle this year.
Another winner in this is Premium
now he ‘aint goin’ nowhere.

Weaver is getting tons of props and buying a ton of good will with the fans.
I see him going legend by the end of his career. Possible HOF pitcher.

Love this article
So true about what happened to the career of recent great Angels players who left Anaheim. I hope Weaver will continue to dominate over the next 5 years. Maybe he’ll be an example and many other future greater players will think, “Oh man…I think I have to say in Anaheim so my career will foster”
Also, I liked that reference to us about being the “So Cal” Giants. Though I don’t normally appreciate being called the “LOCATION (OTHER TEAM),” it does sound like a subtle hint that, if true, we may end up like the Giants and win the World Series this year :) That’s wishful thinking though lol

you don't even need to upload it anywhere...
…you can just copy the pic URL by right clicking on its original source
I see red people
you mean HOTLINK, how uncouth
I was teaching him the right way to do things. I don’t need Apple suing me, or 4chan prowling around because of hotlinking a photo of theirs. Or having someone change the hotlinked photo to something less appropriate. I don’t condone bandwidth theft, and neither should you.
Never occurred to me, as a web half-wit, that this was poor form...
…glad to have been put straight

You all should be ashamed of yourselves.

It's just some sites will also re-link that pic to goatsee, or worse, for doing so.
and I was teaching the correct way. Might as well learn the correct way. Even baseball has rules.

true dat.
also, I already have goatsee bookmarked on my browser (and set for homepage), so, the last thing I need is to see it AGAIN in a HH comment thread.
