Wait til he gets a load of Mike Trout.
Funny comments though, per usual, from Mr. Guillen.

I don't remember when, but Rojas on twitter said
He thought from the batters box to first, trout is the fastest. From frist to third, it would be P-Bo!

At some point, someone posted some scouting remarks for Trout that had his actual running times. I'm leaving work, otherwise I'd look.
I don’t remember if this was timed batters box to 1st or 1st to 3rd…just remember the dude said it was unbelievable speed.

It was either KLaw or JHeyman
his box to 1st time was sub 4 which is unbelievable.

I can do under four.
Minutes.

I've heard Torii Hunter quoted as saying the same thing.
I love this team.

The MLB player I've seen who based on the eyeball test is as fast or faster would be Reyes...
I must add however that I don’t mean Jose Reyes now but Jose Reyes from four years ago, when he had his top speed. I remember seeing him in person the last time the Mets played in Anaheim and just being amazed by the speed. Of course he has lost a step, but Bourjos reminds me of that kind of speed.
You don’t notice this stuff on TV as much. For example, I went to the White Sox game on Tuesday night. The Angels first run was created when Bourjos scored all the way from first-base on a single by Hunter. A single ! It was two outs so he had a running start, but nevertheless, it was an awesome thing to see. On TV you wouldn’t see that because the camera would follow the ball, but I was watching speedy Pete. That kind of speed puts Figgy to shame. Bourjos is the kind of player that can propel us to a Championship. I am that hyped about him. I think he is a potential superstar. I think Torii sees that as well if you heard his comments the other day about him….
I think I heard someone say
Bourjos is faster defensively in the OF but Trout is quicker on the basepaths

Dino Ebel said Trout was the fastest
Ebel has a stopwatch on him when he’s coaching 3B and he times the runners to 1B. He said Trout was the fastest he had ever seen from a right-handed hitter going to 1B.
He didn’t qualify it as fastest white player. Apparently, Ozzie is going to be amazed all over again.

So Trout fastest to 1B,
P-Bo overall faster?

I think the 1st to 3rd speed is more impressive....
Terry Smith talked about this subject when asked by a caller on Angel Talk a couple of weeks ago…He said that Trout was supposedly faster than Pete from home to 1st (as George states), BUT, that Bourjos is faster going from 1st to 3rd base….Just imagine a whole season with both those guys in the OF on a daily basis…..and with Hunter in right. We would hardly see a double hit against us… And we might not surrender a triple the entire season !!
Yeah, Ebel didn't elucidate on 1st to 3rd
He wasn’t about to play favorites of Trout over Bourjos, either.
He was simply stating that Trout was the fastest right-handed hitter he had ever seen go from home to 1st.
Clearly, these two will be the Coleman and McGee of the current decade.

I don't take it personal
So he is the fastest white guy. Why does everyone think of race, when all someone is doing is stating a fact.
Ozzie said it right in my book, but he is still a douche.
didn't Torii say the same thing?
that PB is the fastest white guy he’d ever seen? I believe he did

The baseball community can always count on ozzie for funny non-compliments like these.
I, personally find the man refreshing. Baseball has become a place where almost everyone watches what they say, and its nice to find someone who speaks his mind instead of constantly recycling cliches.

I take Ozzie's statement for what it is, a compliment.
But, race issues aside, I think it would be safe to say that Bourjos is one of the fastest baseball players of any color.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
This.
Billy Beane was supposed to be really fast. Really really fast.
Ozzie might possibly be making a joke about “fast for a white guy”.
THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!
I liked this line
He can be my favorite player
hahaha, gotta love that guy

oops, forgot the beginning of the sentence
Oh my god, he can be my favorite player

I have no problem with this.
I find Ozzie Guillen entertaining as hell, and it’s true — most of the fastest dudes in the world are black. No biggie — just watch the Olympics.
For Ozzie, this was a fairly gushing complement:
"Oh my god, he can be my favorite player," Guillen told ESPNChicago.com via Hardball Talk. "I’ve never seen a white man that can run that fast. It is really impressive. That man might be the fastest person in baseball right now."
Really hope Fleet Pete nabs a GG this season. He deserves it, alongside Brett Gardner and Jacoby Ellsbury, in my opinion.
Me neither. I didn't read the article, but do people have a problem with this comment, or something?
Seems pretty innocuous, especially coming from Ozzie Guillen.

Well, I just scanned the thread.
Lotta Ozzie digs to go around.
Check the link in the article — I loved that moment where he compared Pedroia to a derby jockey — that was a milk-spitter.
Pete can jump too! He'd make Wesley proud!

lol, everyone so fickle on ozzie.
all it takes is a verbal hand-job about P-Bo’s speed and now it’s “ohmygosh i cant get enough ozzie always was a fan LOVE YOU OZZIE!!!”
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.
I'm sure Ozzie was comparing Pete to this non-white guy when he opened his piehole

All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
Haha

Ozzie stated a fact as a joke.
No racism here…………NONE!
I think it’s funny as shit!
According to everybody at ESPN 1st & 10, everything comes down to race.
So Ozzie didn’t really have to state the obvious, its just redundant.
Well, Ozzie clearly has not seen Scioscia run when the lasagna is ready....
nor has he seen McAnulty run when the “all you can eat” buffet opens.
You don't have to see him. That earthquake back east? It was caused by the AYCE buffet in SLC opening early.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?

Per the author's comment about Pete only having 17 steals:
You don’t need to steal a base and get into scoring postion when you end up on 2nd or 3rd so much.
Of his 110 hits this season 22 have been doubles, 9 have been triples and 8 have been home runs. Better than 1/3 of the time Pete doesn’t stop at first. Compare that to only 28% for Darin Erstad in his career.
Against stupidity the very Gods themselves toil in vain.
Wild.
"It is a haunted game in which every player is measured against the ghosts of all who have gone before."
Raw numbers...390 AB's, 99K's, 24 walk's, 17 steals.
FleetPete is currently walking in about 6% of his AB’s while striking-out 25% of his AB’s.
I hope he can set/achieve a goal of equalizing those ratios. If he does, he will not only have more SB’s, he will become a truly feared lead-off hitter.
The key will be laying off the low and away sliders (much easier from this easy chair than from the batter’s box).
He's been better the last month and a half
His last 174 ABs, he’s struck out 21% of the time. Marginal improvement maybe, and he’s still not walking much, but it’s a start. If he can get the walks up to 7% and the Ks down to 20%, he’ll be a lot more consistent. Those numbers won’t light the world on fire, but it would mean a lot fewer prolonged slumps.
