Ballsy managing year for Scioscia, that’s for sure.

Especially in the last week or so he’s definitely not been his predictable self. I like it.
That's what I was expecting him to do!
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
I didn't expect that

Were you expecting the Spanish Inquisition?

Agree with you and Yeswecan...although this weekend's lineup could use some Mike Trout, but at least he's making the right moves re: the starting pitchers.

yeah I can't figure that one out either.
Trout has a great opening series, then hasn’t seen the field in a week. What the heck?
Thank you, Nick Adenhart. You will always be remembered. #34

Well, he did get a pinch hit AB in the White Sox blowout, promptly hit a single. So yeah, he has a whopping 1/2 hinning of playing time since the opening series.

With That Hit
Trout brought his season average to an even .200. If he gets a hit in his next AB, he’ll have a higher batting average than Vernon Wells. Yes, he should be playing.
Agree, though he did keep his head in the sand too long on VW in Mathis.
That’s probably the only predictable thing he’s done all year.

Sosh going all in. I like it

Exactly what I was thinking
And, he set up the big three for the last series of the year, basically pushing Texas to try and be up at least 3 games heading into it. This move could really impact the way Texas makes its decisions for the rest of the year.
I don't think Texas has a lot of options.
I’m still scared…………..but I like it.
That’ll leave Pineiro and Williams to start in Seattle
All in except
for the fact that he continues to leave Trout and Conger on the damn bench.

Yeah, seriously.
WTF???
I think Conger has only gotten 1 start since the call up.
Come on, Sosh. Have Jeffy Premium catch when Weaver starts, give Bobby Wilson 1 or 2 starts a week, and then give the rest of the time to Conger!

I don't like it
Moving both Santana and Weaver is why. Santana would be starting Sunday on normal rest. The record for pitchers on three days rest is not good

Something of a paradigm shift for Scioscia
This is not a we just focus on tonight’s game type of move.
Scioscia has shown a flexibility and an adaptability this year that I think has saved our season in a number of times.
he also has shown some stubborness that has hurt the team a number of times

OT
Has anyone noticed Lyle Spencer hasn’t written an article on the angels website for some time now? Maybe he’s hiding in some cave out of shame for his Mathis boner

$1 million in salary per .010 of batting average?
AWB - Thank you, Arte.
Great article on SB Nation
Well, they were certainly aware that Mathis wasn’t a good hitter, but they believe his defense is something just short of magic. He can perform pitcher mind-melds and call games that inspire rock operas, apparently.
Ok, who among here wrote the above part?! Ha!
Not 100% behind this one, maybe 75%.
Howzabout:
If Haren wins, go with “Other” Saturday. If “Other” loses, then WTY Sunday; if “Other” wins (more than plausible), then Voodoo Sunday.
If Haren loses, then Ervin Saturday, WTY Sunday.
You want to sweep the series, but we gotta get 2, and odds are always against a sweep anyway.
I’m just not that comfortable taking the chance in non-must win situations (unlike the playoffs).
Flame on:)
The Angels are ill-served by a front office that willfully disregards both modern and classic performance measurements when it comes to Jeff Mathis. Astonishing, and nearly unforgiveable.
At the end of the season this just might just be must win looking back
Not to mention we are on fire and we need this to keep it going mentally and emotionally
That may be Plan B

I am a little nervous about it
I would be against it if it didn’t set things up the big three going in the last three games of the season in Anaheim against Texas. I guess it had to be done at some point, why not when you are playing the first place team in a pivotal series?
So basically it was either Jerome Williams and Santana on normal days rest...
…..or Santana and Weaver on three days rest?
Tough call.
I’ll let you know my thoughts on it on Sunday evening.
I've got nothing.
Hindsight is 20/20. Speak now or forever hold your peace.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
Can anyone start a GT right now?
Too pumped. Neglecting all responsibilities this weekend.
RIP Nick Adenhart 4/9/09
I cant eat or drink for 24 hours anyway, so Im literally devoting all my time and energy this fine Friday to this game.
The momentum is with us, the Rangers are scared for once. I say we blow them out tonight.
I brought sexy back, but they only gave me store credit....
The smell of desperation
If Soth managed smarter throughout the season, the team would not be down to 5 games as “make or break” for 2011.
