Six Turns Left in Angels Rotation

Sit back and watch!!!!

If the Angels go 12-6 in the remaining 18 starts by Dan Haren, Ervin Santana and Jered Weaver and they go 6-6 in the remaining starts by Joel Pineiro, Jerome Williams and / or Tyler Chatwood, Garrett Richards and who else, Matt Palmer... That would add up to an 88 win season. Did Texas look so gassed tonight that they will go 12-15 the rest of the way? They have 27 remaining games and four days off. We have 29 remaining games and Two Off-Days.

Our Pitching Schedule looks like this...

Schedule is an important key.

Now that Lackey has turned to the enemy lets kick his ass

Other than the 6 games against yanks & rangers

it’s a cake walk.

I expect them to go 23-6, losing all 6 to the two good teams, and still making the playoffs. Will that be kind of embarrassing? Sure, but I’ll take it.

Somewhere, right now, Mickey Hatcher is ruining a swing.

Why don't you take a look at who they're playing.

A’s have been HAMMERING the Angels. I think we’re 4-8 against them this year. So yeah, maybe they should gear up for those games too.

I feel confident about our chances

Just keep Mathis on the bench…seriously! This has been a fun year!

29 games?

I want to see the Angels go something like at least 18-11. The Rangers going 13-14 is conceivable. . . depending on the weather in Arlington and how gassed their rotation is. They have 6 against the Rays, 3 Red Sox, 6 Oakland, 6 Seattle, 3 Indians, and 3 us.

i want chatwood to come back and be able to finish the season

I really like him and think he has improved and it would be nice to end his rookie year on a good note

Are you sure he was safe? It looked like an out to the entire statium. Well bad call Blue.

by Alavel on Aug 28, 2011 10:33 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

I want Chatwood to stay where he is for now.

because I don’t think he’s quite ready for the majors. He’ll be ready next year.

THIS… IS… ANAHEIM!!

im not saying hes ojr #4 guy but an okay #5

Next year he should be a great #4 or #5 with the experience he gained.

Schedule

Earlier in the year when the Angels did that cross-country stint from Seattle to NY to FL (or something like that) Sosh was complaining about the schedule. I bet he likes the schedule now. It will definitely be our biggest ally down the stretch.

by frosse on Aug 28, 2011 10:55 PM PDT via mobile reply actions

I like that schedule a lot.

If we can’t handle the majority of those teams then we don’t belong in the playoffs this year.

You forgot one...

NO MORE PITCHING FRAUDNEY!!!! (Unless we’re already down by 20 runs)

If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?

by red floyd on Aug 29, 2011 5:24 PM PDT up reply actions

never thought i could feel this confident after losing 2 out of 3 to the division leader but...

i think this team really does have that resiliency and desire to win for each other that some of our other, more potent/talented teams in the past were lacking…

this team is either gonna win the west or make it a VERY close run thing… my money is that we win it but regardless its gonna be a fun september… and after last year, that’s music to my ears… GO HALOS!

No Matter What... Fight On!

Getting 18 more wins would give us 90 wins

Then Texas only needs to go 13-14. Definately doable. Would have been easier if Weaver pitched like Weaver and we got the win last night, but it’s still possible.

This season has already been better than anticipated.

We are basically a rebuilding team. To be in contention as a rebuilding team is having your cake and eating it too.

Mathis is a rookie too

Official prediction: The Angels will win the AL west this season.

by RexTookMyStash on Aug 29, 2011 1:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Bourjous, Conger, rookie reliever, make-shift rotation spots

It’s not entirely rebuilding, but certainly, there are major pieces in flux or at least not established in terms of years (Fleet Pete).

by PhantomKing on Aug 29, 2011 5:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Forgot Bourjous.

Conger doesn’t play, so he doesn’t count.

AWB - Thank you, Arte.

It is all about perception.

If the Angels had gone into the series with Texas 4 games back and take two out of three we are in the same position we are in today. It is a pretty good one it just seems worse because one game back seemed within our grasp.

Now that Lackey has turned to the enemy lets kick his ass

by Angelsrthebest101 on Aug 29, 2011 1:35 PM PDT reply actions

Here's what I think is a reasonable estimate of our performance (by series)

@ Mariners: win 3 out of 4
vs Twins: win 2 out of 3
vs Mariners: win 2 out of 3
vs. Yankees: win 2 out of 3
@ A’s: win 1 out of 3
@ Orioles: win 2 out of 3
@ Blue Jays: win 2 out of 4
vs A’s: win 2 out of 3

This is a record of 16 – 10, which puts the Angels at 88 – 71. It also only requires the Angels to win 3 games in which Pineiro or Williams pitch.

For the Angels to have a shot, Texas would have to go 15 – 9 or worse. That’s certainly reasonable. Of course, the Angels would then have to sweep Texas to force a playoff, but it’s also a lot more likely that Texas only wins something like 12 – 13 games in that span, given the level of competition they’re facing.

It is an uphill climb, but if the Angels take care of business against the dregs (Mariners, Twins, Orioles), the last series of the year will mean something.

Reply fail

minus the Tex series…maybe Tex will just give up if we catch them :)

by PhantomKing on Aug 29, 2011 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Halos will win a minimum of 20 games

Improved offense – last 8 games Halos have scored at least 5 runs
And, then you couple that with the Halos Starters pitching to a lot of sub-.500 teams.

by TheGodofRuns on Aug 29, 2011 5:42 PM PDT reply actions

I hope we win the West on the last day of the season

and carry that fighting attitude into the postseason, just like they did in 2002.
