I'm just so happy for Casey Kotchman....
Not really related to the Angels today - but I knew Kotchman was having a good season in TB, just wasn't sure how good.
Turns out, he's doing what I had hoped (and expected) him to do here: .400 OBP/.450 SLG. 30 walks and 40 K's while playing - I assume - really great defense at 1st. I'm just happy he didn't flame out entirely.

I know, man
He was my favorite in his stint here with the Angels. He was just hitting his stride for us when that pickoff play at 2nd knocked him out for a while. I was super angry when we traded for Teixiera because I knew a 3-month rental wasn’t worth losing a true Angel. Let’s hope he keeps it up for a long time.
dude has been the freakiest of freak injury magnets
MONO takes a whole developmental season when he is penciled in as our starter.

Still only 28 yrs old.
He could have a whole second career in him. Maybe he turns into Sean Casey.
Stranger things have happened.
still rock my old CK jersey at every home game !
IT COULD HAPPEN

I'm happy for him, but...
His BABIP is an ungodly .362. His career number is .280. Nothing in his numbers suggest this is anything but luck. But if anyone deserves some good luck, it’s him.
I remember when he was 24 years old and put up a line of .296/.372/.467. I thought he would develop into Rafael Palmeiro. Or at least Mark Grace. Due to all the miseries describes above, it’s just never happened.
But he’s just 28 years old now, and he plays for Joe Maddon, the Most Positive Man in the World. Here’s hoping he still makes a career for himself.

I'm glad Kotchman has turned things around
I’m also really happy that he’s doing it for Tampa Bay, and not for Seattle or Boston. It’s almost as if he’s still an Angel at heart – wearing the uniform of a team in our division or one we despise saps his ability.

I see Kotchman as another post-Mickey-Hatchet success story.
Also, see Mike Napoli and Brandon Wood.

Brandon Wood actually has an OBP of .303 (20 BB's)
others below him are: Vernon Wells .249, Figgins .241, Crawford (glad we didn’t sign him) .276, Uggla .284, McGehee .289, Trumbo .297
Ahhh... Yes... Finally back home in SoCal!!!

Yeah - he is killing the ball over his last
45 AB’s. Over 1.000 OPS. Hope he figures it out, too.
How does this team win with this offense? Hey, anyone....DRAW A WALK!!!

And....
all this talk about Trumbo and how great he is needs to cease. The motherfucker can’t draw a walk to save his life. Power is fine and all. I prefer my players have it, no doubt, but an OBP under .300 just doesn’t excite me no matter HOW many homers a guys hits.
Wake me when he is at .310 for his OBP – then I’ll acknowledge that he is a serviceable MLB player. Until then – he’s AAAA material in my mind.

Wood is another one that's doing better. Average is up to .229. Maybe he'll figure things out.
Sometimes someone just needs a change of scenery. You know, Mathis? I heard the Canadian Football League put out a call for quarterbacks with a high CERA.

Who's this Casey fellow
and what’s he doing with my name?
