96 Games in California (expanding home field)
96 Games in California. 66 Games on the Road. Angels fans can drive to 96 games in California this season, thanks to 9 against the A's (all Mon/Tue/Wed), 3 at Dodger Stadium, and 3 in San Diego.
@San Diego May 18th,19th, 20th
@Oakland May 21st, 22nd, 23rd
@Dodgers June 11th, 12th, 13th
@Oakland August 6th, 7th, 8th
@Oakland September 3rd, 4th, 5th
(This is a post about the upcoming schedule by the way, I'm going to drift off course right about now, make a fart joke, and then bring it all back together, enjoy)
The upcoming schedule has 12 road trips, 12 homestands. 24 Missions.
The Angels had the lowest average road attendance in all of MLB last season. Most of that statistic is probably a byproduct of playing Oakland, Seattle, Toronto, Tampa Bay, Cleveland, and Baltimore which happen to be 6 of the 7 worst home attendance teams in the league. It will be interesting to see how the Angels road presence changes as they travel this season, will they draw significantly larger crowds?
By decertifying it's Major League Ballclub, Oakland became AAAA's, and further dismissed an already frustrated fan base. They will probably be showing up in even fewer numbers this coming season, which leads to this thought...
(oh yeah baby)...
can it be possible that Angels fans can overwhelm the number of home fans in Oakland on one or more occasions next season? Especially with a coordinated siege on one night ...taking Oakland. Turning the Coliseum Red.
Which game?

That's actually an interesting idea
Feasible. Budget friendly. My vote is May 21 or 22. Monday/Tuesday where their crowds would be even lighter than usual. Make it a poll question and let the others here vote.

Bargain Wednesdays
For the past few years, the A’s have had bargain Wednesdays where tickets (reasonably good ones) sell for as little as $1.00 each. I just checked the A’s site and I can’t find any single game prices yet (Jan. 29), but they may be doing that again this year too.
just get DOV and his kids to show up

I have a buddy in Port Orchard who claims he’s an easy ferry ride away.

There's actually a couple.
And it’s wise to park far from the stadium and avoid that ridiculously expensive stadium parking lot.

There are a few. There is a tiny dive shaped like a triangle on the corner across from the Qwest lot
I go there and have a few beers before the game.

The pyramid brewery is across the street.
I was up there last year and went there after I toured Safeco. If you’re a beer nerd it’s a good place. They’ve got a nice bar and good food.

Access to the park beyond the outfield fence.
Sit in the lawn, have a picnic, watch the game (with a somewhat iffy view). This is (usually) done in lieu of paying for stadium seating.
Five dallah.

I am probably going to try going to all 3 at Petco
We could seriously get a home field atmosphere if enough people make the trip down the 5 or 15. Plus there is a decent-sized contingent of Halo fans hidden down here, like me. Hopefully my buddy is renewing his season tickets so I can just roll with him.

Unfortunately, the team that plays there and the fanbase…not so much. Kind of a bummer because I would go more often to see good games, even if they don’t involve the Angels.

This all sounds great, except for one thing...
I went to an Angels game in Oakland once, and saw two guys in Angels gear get beer bottles thrown at them from some off-duty Raider Nation thugs in the upper deck. Oakland is a $hit town, and there are probably going to be a lot of fights in the Coliseum parking lot if we do this.
So I’m in.

Personally, i’ve never had any problems. But you couldn’t get me to go to a Raider game there. I still have bad memories of the Raiders games at the LA Coliseum. Doyer fans are downright hospitable in comparison.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE.....
I go to Oakland every year for the last 5 years.
I make at least 2 of the 3 game series, usually all 3. There are always a lot of Angel fans, and not once has anyone been rude. I go with my dad, and we have fun friendly banter with the locals, ruing Krapmir’s 13 ER, cheering Vladdy’s homeruns.
Actually the funniest thing was last year when a couple Oakland fans were heckling Vernon Wells, and he engaged them. Exchanging words and then shrugging his shoulders with a wry smile, ‘yah I suck , but I’m RICH BEEATCH!"

I'll go to any of these
I went last year and there seemed to be a lot less belligerent drunkards. Granted, I pay for seats at field level near the Angel bullpen. But in previous years, things were a lot worse even there. And I went with my 6 year olds who haven’t figured out yet you don’t boo the frat-guys sitting behind us (reeking of beer in the 3th inning) to their face while wearing Angel red. The Bryan Stow incident was probably having an effect, and probably not just in Oakland.
PETCO
I work for the Pads and we are expecting the Halos series to be a big seller for us; probably turning into Angel Stadium South. Which is fine by us since all we usually get is an unappealing interleague Royals/O’s/Indians series and of course our “regional rival” Mariners.

If the Angels are playing at home or in Seattle sometime in June/July, which is when I plan on going back to Cali to visit my sister and the rest of my family lives in the Tacoma area, then I will definitely hit up a couple of games. Forget Oakland. San Diego and Denver are on the schedule.
Don’t have much interest in going there unless it includes a side trip to a Giants game. Went to Oakland when the Angels clinched in 2004 and 2005, and had a blast, but that’s different.
Definitely going to San Diego and Denver this year, probably one or two more. Next year, Pittsburgh, hopefully.
