Great.
He should be able to hit about 80 home runs playing in Arlington. Hopefully, Fielder will realize that he doesn’t want to play in the 1000 degree, humidity-strangled butt hole of America.

I hate to say it but if they get him we may have to pin our hopes on a wild card berth =p.

This is the one guy I don't want to see in Texas
A left with that kind of pop will hit 60 bombs there. Our only hope is that he melts away in the heat and humidity. I wouldn’t want to be the guy who has to wash that jersey.
Someone proposed an interesting idea on the radio this morning,
The dodgers/ Colletti may have a basic agreement outlined with boras and fielder but have to wait until the sale on the 23rd to do anything official. It was probably pure speculation by the inmates at the latrine, but it does bring up an interesting point-
if boras drags this out long enough, the dodgers may become financially relevant before fielder signs and at least change the market he would have.

I will now forever hate Yu Darvish. I blame you
I hope your career sucks.
Willits? Check. Reagins? Check. Mathis? Check
Why?
I think you’re assuming facts not in evidence.
The Rangers meet with Fielder and [A] send a message to Darvish and his agents that the team has a back up plan, and [B] lays the foundation for that back up plan.
Darvish is still the #1 priority, based upon the alleged number of man-hours Texas has invested in scouting Darvish in the past two years. It would be pretty embarrassing if the team got this far in the process and couldn’t close the deal, since part of the whole process is anticipating what Darvish would ask to sign. If they budgeted for $10M AAV plus posting fee and found out he wants 50% to 100% more in salary, then they’ve screwed the pooch if they back away from the table and will look pretty naive.
My bet is that Darvish will sign with the Rangers and Fielder will take a very fat one-year deal, becoming a free agent in 2013 when the Mets and Dodgers have money to spend.

Yeah I think you're right GK
And you couldn’t have been more right about Boras delaying until the Darvish situation resolves itself to get prince max money. However someone brought up Jan 23rd as an interesting date because that will be when the bids are due on the Dodgers. Do you think its possible that Boras and Fielder might wait until then and see if a new owner with money will drive up Fielder’s price?

I don't think the Dodgers will be resolved that quickly
Sure as the sun comes up tomorrow, I don’t think the litigation is over yet. Some bidding party won’t win the bid and they’ll sue some other entity connected with his mess. Jamie will sue Frank because her settlement hasn’t closed yet and she needs to be able to pay her live-in manicurist two months’ back wages. This process figures to be as fractious as the last seven years of the current ownership.

Well the Angels should make that 1 year deal a priority
Don’t see him doing that but Arte should be the guy to drop 25 mil on Prince for a year
Willits? Check. Reagins? Check. Mathis? Check
Can't see Prince signing a 1-year
Everything else makes sense, the Rangers really want Darvish given how much effort they’ve put into getting him. I can only see them going after Fielder if they genuinely miscalculated how much Darvish would cost them.
Boras only sets up “pillow-contracts” when the player himself was good but maybe hurt in his contract year and didn’t produce. Fielder had a great year. Doubt Boras will leave more total guaranteed money on the table just to wait for the possibility of a Pujols type contract from Mets/Dodgers a year later and risk injury. And if no one gives him a 10-year contract now, I’m guessing he’ll instead settle for a 4-year contract so he can hit free-agency at 32 and maybe get another big one (ie, Beltre).

Of course he wants a long-term deal
That’s preferable.
But the reality is, the number of teams which can commit to that type of deal is very small.
° Yankees? Teixeira (former Boras client) through 2016, and A-Rod is their DH-apparent
° Mets? Complete financial disarray
° Red Sox? Gonzalez through 2018
° Dodgers? Complete financial disarray
° Angels? Pujols until Jesus returns
° Cubs? Rebuilding and trying to offload duds like Soriano
° Marlins? Already committed huge money to other FAs, and won’t give NTC to anybody
° Phillies? Ryan Howard through 2016
Then come the secondary markets, like St Louis (wouldn’t pay Pujols what Fiedler is said to be asking), Texas (distracted by Darvish), Detroit (MigCab), Reds (Votto), Blue Jays (just got rid of Wells’ and Rios’ long-term deals), White Sox (rebuilding, plus Kornero and Dunn block 1B/DH), Braves (going young with Freeman). Then come the tertiary teams like the Royals, Twins and Pirates, who simply aren’t players in derbies like this one.
That leaves the Rangers and Nationals. Boras can’t get a decent bidding war going with just two teams, and there is no real possibility for a credible “mystery team” (see above). He can’t get maximum value for Prince in this market.
But if they sign one fat, one-year contract and re-enter the market in 2013, the Dodgers figure to have new ownership with a desire to make a splash, and the Mets will have sold shares of the team to investors and put most of their money troubles behind them. THAT is the dream scenario for Boras.
As an aside, I think Boras expected Pujols to go back with the Cardinals and that the Angels (with a new. NL GM at the helm) to be his huckleberry in negotiations. When the Angels signed Pujols, I think that basically screwed Boras and Fielder for 2012, with Darvish being the icing on the cake. If Darvish signs, I expect a one-year deal ANYWHERE for Fielder and his re-appearance (with fellow Boras client Madson) in the 2013 free agent class.

How does a Klingon make a vegan taco?
Take one vegan
Put him in a taco shell.
Enjoy.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Man, we need a left-handed stick.
Can’t anybody make GA (Blue Smoke) any younger?
Don't call me Bugs. Although Bugs Bunny could do it all on the baseball field.
Rangers were impressed with Prince's physique, says Milwaukee writer.
Man, this reeks of Scott Boras product placement. Just sign with the Nats and get it over with, Round Mound of Heart Attack-Bound.
