The 100 Best Pitchers' Duels of 2011
Bill James ranks the top 100 pitchers' duels of 2011. And as you may have guessed, the Angels are prominently featured at the top of the list with three of the top ten, and seven of the top twenty. It's a pretty good bet that when you have great pitching and crappy offense, you're going to be in a lot of pitchers' duels.

Was just coming to post this.
Glancing at the top 10 was pretty sweet. It got me excited for the season, no doubt.

I was at #1
One of the more fun games I’ve been to, especially since cry baby Verlander lost and got ejected.

I was at the Continental Room in Fullerton
My band was playing a last minute show that night and the whole place was electric over the game. It was awesome.

I was at #4, front row field level near the right field foul pole, hoping for a chance at a ball.
Suffice it to say, very few balls left the infield in that pitchers’ duel.
A wise man does not need advice and a fool won't take it.
The Angels' Big 3 were involved in 18 of this list of Top 100 Pitching Duals.
Weaver 11
Haren 5
Santana 2
CJ 2
CJ was involved in two, for a total of 20 (Except that one of his games was against Weaver……19))
The WHY! game is Number One

That was an awesome game to watch. Some good high tension baseball was played that day.

Best Pitchers' Duels of 2011
Or: Why the West Coast Has a Hard Time Gaining National Attention in Baseball
Seriously, as I’m reading this I keep seeing the Angels, Dodgers and Giants in the top 10. Lots of low-scoring games (aka pitchers’ duels) is a hard thing to get Joe Sportsfan excited about.
Instead, we’d rather see ’roided up sluggers sock some dingers!

3 grand slams in one game or GTFO
Even if one was fake.

Since we will actually have a measurable offense next year...
We should be seeing less pitching duels and more one sided beat downs.
at least I hope so.
Every game felt like we were on the edge of being no hit last year.
I remember that we would score in the first inning
then struggle to keep the lead. Then stay tied. Then not let this thing get out of hand. Then the curse of the crook’d cap. Mixed in with a ground-out, pop-out, or double play.
"Weaver came in 12-4 with an ERA of 1.90"
I’m still in awe of just how damn good Weaver was last year. Spring can’t get here fast enough.
Good read
It brought back plenty of memories.

I was there for #4 and #10
There’s something about day-game baseball that makes a 1-0 victory over a snake bitten opponent that much sweeter.

scratch #10 and replace with #15
