Angels Pursuing Oswalt?

Heard on the rumor mill that the Angels FO are in talks with the agent for Roy Oswalt. There were several different reports. Angels were offering 1 year at 6 mill: Angels offering 2 years at 7-8 mill. Angels offering 1 year with option at 5 mill. Angels offering 1-2 years at 2-3 mill per year with incentives. My question is, has anybody else heard these rumors? And should we be pursuing a pitcher with a documented back ailment of degenerative disc disease?

A credible source (that I can’t recall at the time) suggested Maholm could sign for as little as 1 yr/$6MM… I realize we’re probably done shopping but if someone could land him for that price that’s a very nice bargain.
He could be the best #5 in the majors (I’m VERY cautiously optimistic on Williams).
