Cleveland Plain Dealer letter to the editor proposes Indians trade for Vernon Wells

23

In a letter to the editor published in the Cleveland Plain Dealer last week, an Indians fan wrote: "What if the Indians asked for Vernon Wells and Kendrys Morales plus money from the Angels for bullpen help and prospects? Wells is owed over $62 million over the next three years. Would the Indians make the move if the Angels offered to eat $20 million of Wells' contract. The Angels lose a bad contract and open up a spot for Mike Trout, plus get bullpen help. The Indians get a quality right-handed bat in Wells and a quality switch-hitting first baseman in Morales, if he's healthy." Of course, the paper's staff writer goes on to reject the proposal as "way too much of a gamble for me." But is there hope that a deal could be made?
