The Giants Do Not Go Gently at PacBell Park

2002 - The Giants even the World Series at 2 games apiece with a 4-3 win over the Angels

Starter John Lackey blew a 3-0 lead in the fifth inning, allowing three runs on four hits. Earlier in the game a two-run homer by Tory Glaus in the third inning had added to an early Angels lead.

The tie lasted into the eighth inning. After a 1-2-3 seventh inning, the Giants scored a run off of Frankie Rodriguez in a rather unassuming manner. J.T. Snow singled and advanced in a passed ball. David Bell drove him home and was erased on a K-CS Double Play.

In the ninth, Robb Nen allowed a one out single to Adam Kennedy, pinch hitting for Benji Gil, but a Brad Fullmer double play ended the inning and the game.

As a long-suffering Angels fan, this loss made me real queasy. The series was down to a two out of three contest. Sure we all know how it ended, but eh the 23rd and 24th would be two stressful downers.
