Sosh on the Mason and Ireland show

Driving into work today I happened to catch a radio interview with our fearless leader. I know you all hate ESPN and thus never induldge in their content, but there were actually a few tasty nugs in this interview you might be interested in:

  1. As of now, he envisions an outfield of Mike Trout in center, in order to maximize his value, Josh Hamilton in left to keep down on the wear and tear and Mark Trumbo in right, his most comfortable position besides first base.
  2. He wants to continue to roll with Albert Pujols batting third and Hamilton right behind him, though that could change at any point. Trout will stay at lead off, at least for the time being.
  3. Idiot Ireland asked if Howie Kendrick would return to the 2 spot in the line up. Scioscia said while he can see certain match-ups where Howie might slot in there, overall he feels more comfortable batting 5-6, while Erick Aybar would see a lot of time there again, as long as he's hitting. He also mentioned Alberto Callaspo getting a look there and possibly even Hambone. In other words, it's Aybar's to lose, with Howie slotting in against lefties, which actually doesn't seem like an awful plan.

He never once mentioned Peter Bourjos or Vernon Wells, which made me both sad and happy at the same time. He seemed excited about the pen, never committing to a closer, but didn't say much about the rotation other than the usual drivel, which leads me to believe there is still work being done.

Oh, and I know this should have been a fanshot, DOV, but I couldn't figure out how to post a simple fanshot without providing a link or something.
