Trading Trout Survey
Awesomest blogger name ever Mister Hudson Belinsky has added Halos Daily to the ESPN Sweetspot Network and polled four Angels writers (neither Lyle Spencer nor Mark Whicker) about what it would take to trade Mike Trout. He even left in my lack of capitalization at the start of one sentence for authenticity's sake!

He said four popular writers,
so how did Rev make the cut?
Official prediction: The Angels will win the AL west this season.

I wouldn't trade Trout even with some of those crazy packages mentioned.
Even if Pujols puts up numbers identical to those he put up in St. Louis for the next 10 years and breaks a boatload of records, he will still go into the Hall of Fame as a Cardinal.
We are one of the few teams who have the resources available to keep a Hall of Fame caliber player in one jersey for their entire career. Mike Trout could very well be the first player to don an Angels cap in Cooperstown. I wouldn’t trade that for anything. You can’t put a price on that.

I wonder what his 10 year services contract has to say about that?
I think it’s 50/50 with the HOF, especially if we pick a World Series or 10.
Unlike this cat, my love for the LAA will never die.
I'd love it if you were right.
He also has the right to opt out of the 10 year personal services contract at any point in time, for whatever that’s worth.

Halos Daily is one sig rune away from being the Angels blog of choice for white supremacists.

I think it's more likely
That the Angels are thinking about signing Mike Trout to a six-year deal with three club options than they are about trading him.
You mean in like 3 years, right?
Where were you on December 8th, 2011 - Pujols Day?

Nope
The Rays signed Evan Longoria when he’d been in the majors for about two weeks, and it was possibly the best baseball decision ever made.
That would be nice.
I’m surprised teams besides the Rays haven’t really embraced the Evan Longoria/Matt Moore contracts strategy.
I would trade him for Albert Pujols
oh wait we already have him

I'm trying to stay positive!
No Preem, no Crook Hat, no Tony Baloney, I am floating softly on a positive dream cloud so stop the trade Trout or Petey crapola and let me have a great offseason dammitt! Unless we are discussing a way to shoot The Dub into space with the next space probe, I want it just the way its is because ITS STINKING AWESOME RIGHT NOW!
Trout
Is perhaps the most valuable player in the entire league. He is simply completely untouchable at this point.
He has the potential to produce 30 to 50 or more WAR for us through 2018 (if we keep him in the minors long enough to delay his first full year of service to 2013).
Trout — ALONE — could provide the Halos with $50 million in-the-money production in 2013 and 2014. This is surely needed to offset the conclusion of Reagins’ Bane, aka “Too Blessed to be Stressed” aka “Maybe it’s Just Society” aka Vernon Wells.
Also, Mike Trout could very well be the first Halo to enter the Hall of Fame that was drafted, developed as AN ANGEL (Yes, Vlad probably goes in as an Angel if selected).
Is Anybody?
Is anybody going to produce more in-the-money value from today until 2018 than Mike Trout? Perhaps Harper, perhaps Moore (yet I take the premium up-the-middle talent over a SP prospect anyday).

…Trout puts more pressure on himself than any other mere mortal.

I know he's not the same player
but every time I see these never trade Trout posts I can’t help but think of Wood.
People in the Halo's organization went gaga over B-Wood.
A lot of scouts, and some HH regulars, thought that Brandon’s swing had a huge hole in it, that couldn’t deal with MLB pitching. It would seem that we were all right. Now why didn’t anybody listen to us when it came to Premium?
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE...
Same here. Nobody is untradeable.
However, I would be apprehensive about trading Trout, looking at our OF of the future. Hula Dula will be gone, VW won"t be here after his contract runs out (unless TR is a GM again, and decides Vernon will be his “Big Splash” again) , and Abreu’s gone after this season. Rather than trade away our young, cheap talent, we should build upon it. Unless of course we’re offered Strasburg, Evan Longoria or Felix Hernandez for Trout, then I say trade away. And even then it would be hard, given Trout’s potential.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE...
Not a fair comparison.
With Wood, he had no exceptional physical abilities, nor did he exhibit even above average patience at the plate. He wasn’t good at taking the ball the other way, and he had a very long swing. He also struggled mightily against offspeed stuff as well. These should have been red flags, but neither one of them seemed glaring enough to be cautioned.
Trout has a tangible skill set that doesn’t go away easily. Even if his hitting skills regress, he won’t just stop having a good eye nor will he stop being insanely fast. Trout is advanced in the sense that he can hit the ball well to all fields. He has a short, compact swing that allows him to get to pitches Wood never could. He has patience that is almost to the level of Abreu or even Pujols, which is extremely rare for a young player.
The difference between Wood and Trout is their floor. Even if Trout doesn’t adapt as expected, he has such a good physical skill set that he will still be an above average player. With Wood, he didn’t have any physical set of tools to fall back on like Trout does. Mike Trout is the closest thing to a sure thing as you will ever find in a young player.
After Wood, I was becoming extremely skeptical of prospects and their development. In fact, I thik I still am a little bit. Trout, however, doesn’t worry me in the slightest. After seeing him play, I know he’s the real deal. He has a lasting skill set, plus a much better make-up. Wood was always trying to live up to expectations, and you could see it from the stands. Trout plays with a slight arrogance. If you watched him last year, he would always mouth the words, “Come on.” when he was awaiting the pitcher’s offering. That’s the kind of guy you build around. I know arrogance is frowned upon in sports, but you need a little bit of it to be successful in this game. The humble guys get eaten up. Trout knows his place. He gets that he’s an unproven rookie. The difference between he and Wood is that he wants to be the best, not just good enough.

The only thing Trout and Wood have in common is that they were/are both top Angels prospects.
Their offensive skillset is very, very different
Sam Miller is pretty dope
Good analysis, and as displayed on his appearance on Lunch Tim Halo Talk, no pretentiousness. He is the anti-Lyle.
Where were you on December 8th, 2011 - Pujols Day?
so he's seen -3000 games?
