The only thing more exciting than the Oscars is
that the Angels signed Juan Rincon today.

The mighty shaft given by the Oscars to "Drive"
has made me not care in the slightest to even seek out a listen of the winners after it’s over.
Which is to say I now somehow care even less about something that I didn’t even give a shit about before. It’s a previously-believed-to-be-impossible level of not-giving-a-shit-about undocumented by anyone in science.
This is a sig.

I was definitely surprised by how much I liked that movie.
Official prediction: The Angels will win the AL west this season.

When Tommy Boy didn't get Best Picture in the mid 90's
I never watched the Oscars again.
Beverly Hills Ninja was also worthy

I've probably seen about 80% of those movies listed above all I can say is...
what a shitty year for films it was.
All I need are some tasty waves, a cool buzz, and I'm fine.
Sorry to disagree,
but Hugo really is a brilliant use of the medium. And Janet McTeer truly ripped the world a new one. The only thing keeping Midnight In Paris from being immortal is Owen Wilson.
Dear Texas: "One, two...........THREE!" The next number IS THREE!!!
If he didn't win with Wedding Crashers
the poor guy never will.
I hate Owen Wilson who plays the same damn character over & over again in every movie
Hugo was okay but if it were directed by anybody other than Martin Scorsese, it would have been totally overlooked. I won’t disagree on Janet McTeer. Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close was just an uncredited & overly artsy remake of a far superior West German movie, The Tin Drum. Rooney Mara was good in The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo, but Noomi Rapace was a far better Lisbeth Salander in the Swedish original. The Help was just a typical chick flick. I loved The Tree of Life, but like any Terrence Malick film, there were probably only six of us who actually saw it & so it won’t win anything. Moneyball was a good movie, but was it really great enough to be nominated for anything other than in a weak Oscar year?

I am a huge Malick fan, but Tree of Life is probably my least favorite out of all his movies.
Glad he got nominated, though.
I agree that it was a weak year. These movies sucked. Okay, they didn’t suck, but they will mostly be forgotten. The Artist will be more Shakespere In Love than No Country For Old Men.

Most of them did suck because
no one cared to see most of them.
Wasn't that bad of a year for films.
Take shelter, Shame, We Need to Talk About Kevin, Melancholia, Martha Marcy May Marlene could all taken the Oscars to new heights. Instead they put oscar-bait Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close, War Horse, Moneyball, The Descendants, and The Help. It was a bad year for the Oscars.
They want power. We want respect...

Those were all good movies(except Melancholia).
I think that was what bummed me out, though. 2011 had a lot of good stuff. Nothing bowled me over, though.

Where did you find that picture of Callaspo?
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Tintin totally deserved a nomination.
Otherwise, yay for the Muppets!

Real talk
The Artist was not Best Picture good.
by Halowitz on Feb 26, 2012 8:44 PM PST via mobile reply actions
The Artist box office = $73 million
The Hangover Part 2 box office = $581+ million
SCOREBOARD.
Why is it that no one goes to see movies that are supposedly the best?
You would think that if they were so good, word would spread and the box office take would be big, but not the case. Jeremy Lin got more notoriety in 5 days than a lot of these movies got in a year.
People purchase more art from WalMart than is sold from fine galleries.
Why do you suppose that is?
Dear Texas: "One, two...........THREE!" The next number IS THREE!!!
Probably because you can get a 10 dollar reprint of dogs playing poker at wal mart.
Maybe a movie about … movies… with a francophile twist doesn’t appeal to the average american. and i don’t blame them. neither should anyone else.
That being said, I havent seen the artist. But i did see midnight in paris. And it sucked a huge dick. Pardon my french.
What do you need a fancy suit for, Charlie, you ain't got no job to wear it to.

did bucky larson win yet?

Glad to say I didn't watch one minute of the Oscars.
Besides, i’m more of a Tommy Boy, Airplane! type of guy. Which means the movies I like are never nominated to begin with.
YOU DON'T KNOW THE POWER OF THE DARKSIDE...
Did anyone notice that Rev one an Oscar
