Can we get OfMaicerAndMen to write the Jedi again and explain how bad this trade would be?

This is pure speculation from writers with nothing to do

The Bourjos/Trout 1-2 punch at the top of the lineup has the chance to be classic.
So, no, this trade idea does not please me.
Winning doesn't matter. –Lyle
Fact is, if Morales gets healthy we could get used to this lineup
Bourjos
Trout
Kendrick
Pujols
Morales
Trumbo (RF)
Callaspo
Ianetta/Conger
Aybar

Think a more likely lineup would be
Trout
Kendrick
Pujols
Morales
Trumbo
Bourjos
Callaspo
Conger
Aybar
If it is Ianetta and not conger id put him 6 hole and have Bourjos, Callaspo, Aybar set up the top of the order. Depending if Bourjos gets is OPS up and develops some power the order of those three could change.

Bourjos for Jordan Zimmerman makes more sense if they want to trade a SP.
But there’s no reason for us to make that deal or any other.
2012 our OF could very well be Trout, Bourjos, Wells with Trumbo roaming between DH, 4th OF and 3rd.

Torii is out. His contract is up after this year.
by MoralesHomers on Feb 5, 2012 3:12 PM PST up reply actions
While id not mind him being a bat on our bench
he likely doesn’t want to play that role and we don’t really have the roster space with our plethora of outfielders.
by MoralesHomers on Feb 5, 2012 3:13 PM PST up reply actions
I don't know. He's said he wants to end his career with the Halos in whatever role they'd take him.
How serious he was, I don’t know.
If the Halos don't care about the way they play, then why should I?
Ya, and we probably won't know until after this season, when he becomes a FA.
I would love to see him stay past this season in a bench role, and I’m sure he meant what he said about wanting to stay with the Angels when he said it.
But if the off season rolls around he has a chance to play everyday on another competitive team? That could definitely make the decision harder.
I could definitely see Torii being the type that decides a bench role with a competitive team he has a connection to is preferable to playing everyday on a new team though.
Oh im not saying he wouldn’t want to be an angel. So lets say im wrong maybe he is willing to play off the bench but how much do you expect to pay him? He would have to take a major pay cut cause I wouldn’t pay him anywhere close to 18mill to come off the bench.
It will be interesting but at the end of this year under contract I believe our OF’ers look like this:
Peter Borjous
Mike Trout
Vernon Wells
Trumbo (mix of OF/DH/1st/and 3rd if he works out)
FA’s:
Torii
Abreu
One thing I notice we are losing is we will have almost 0 Left handers after this season on bench or otherwise. While id keep Torii over Abreu we do have others like Jeremy Moore which should be looked at much more seriously over the next year or two at the Major league level

I agree with a suggestion someone threw around earlier

any Bourjos trade would piss off this community
because we overrate him, but that said, Lannan for Bourjos is just horrible

How do we over rate him?
I’ve never heard anyone say he was an MVP or even an all-star. I think the community just recognizes his value.
Bourjos provides league average offense (100 career wRC+) at a premium position, which he happens to be the best in baseball at playing (Best UZR/150 in MLB since 2010.
Did you know Bourjos had a higher fWAR than Josh Hamilton last year?
I know he played in about 20 more games than Hamilton but I’m just saying, I don’t think this community overrates him. Kook writers that think Lannan for Bourjos would be a fair swap underrate him.

Probably not overrate...
but there is a definite man-crush this community has on P-Bo. Int he same vein as Kotchman.

"Kook writers that think Lannan for Bourjos would be a fair swap underrate him."
Yep.
There are definitely trades that could me made with Bourjos involved that I would be okay with, but the major Bourjos trades that have been discussed here(David Wright and the various incarnations of Bourjos to the Nationals talk) have underrated him.
On to something there
If Bourjos were to be traded, it’d have to be for a young guy like Rendon

Lannan is a free agent in 2014, in contrast Peter Bourjos isn't arbitration eligible until 2014
As BigGame48 has mentioned above, Bourjos is an elite defender at centerfield coupled with league average offense that could very well improve.
PBo is a valuable asset to the team and the media will have to come up with better trade proposals than Peter Bourjos for Poor Man’s Joe Saunders.

ENOUGH STUPID BOURJOS TRADE RUMORS! FUCK DAVID WRIGHT AND JOHN LANNAN!

My reaction to this trade
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO NO ….
Like I said in another thread this trade makes little to no sense. Borjous is still much younger and hasn’t even reached his prime. Lannan is 27 and is a boarderline #4 or #5 on most rosters. We would be giving up too much for the role he would be playing.
Nats sign Rick Ankiel
LET THIS MADNESS END.
by lightupthehalo29 on Feb 5, 2012 3:22 PM PST reply actions
I doubt Rick Ankiel is going to end this speculation, but I'm with you.
I hope the Nationals just trade for any other CF(soon, preferably) and end this.
If we had still reagins
he would trade bourjos for werth

Cafordo
Ridiculously stupid ideas like this clearly shows how this Boston clown truly doesn’t know anything about baseball outside of the city limits of Beantown.
If dude had thought about this trade for more than 60 seconds he would have understood how unbelievably ludicrous this “idea” is.
I think most "writers" just see the Angels have Trout, and a crowded OF
so they MUST TRADE BOURJOS! I doubt he gets traded, and I dont think he should be traded

and I find it funny how lots of people say Bourjos will lose playing time this year
I’d bet he gets the most playing time out of him Hunter, Wells, Abreu and Trumbo barring injuries

Dipoto has proven to be too smart to do such a stupid trade
"When my mother was pregnant with me, they did an ultrasound and found she was having twins. When they did another ultrasound a few weeks later, they discovered that I had adsorbed the other fetus.
