Listening to CJ Wilson talk about a rotation full of great prime aged pitchers feeding off the momentum of competing, I think many Angels fans wonder if this might bring out more of Ervin Santana's mojo. Ervin has always had the tools, and with a new contract looming, I think he is primed for a career year. The focus will be there, the competitive fire will elevate his game.
Weaver is a joy to watch, and for a player like Weaver, adding Albert Pujols for life, means he might never lose a game 0-1 again! Weaver should be rewarded for giving us the hometown discount and that reward is standing at first base watching Weaver's back. Weaver is always in the mix for a 20 win season.
Haren has proven he has high caliber stuff and the endurance to gut out 20. I dont know who wants the 20 wins more, Haren or his Beard, either way, we all win when the beard wins. It seemed like Haren fed off the pitching with quality starters last season, I think the addition of CJ Wilson will only add more fire to that hungry beard.
CJ Wilson obviously will be angling his way into the 20 mix this season, testing out his new stadium's limits, learning where the drafts settle, how the fans react. Cerebral dude on the mound, gunning for 20.
Of course Walden will have to a lot to do with it, but assuming something happens to solidify the hatch, either through development and evolution, or shifts and moves, it the endgame is solid the season, end to end...
Which of these four in their prime ace pitchers will crack the 20 club this year? Call it.
