I wrote this piece below in response to the fans that were indulging is the act of baseball treason, who attack the greatest baseball player of our generation for his humanity. The player that chose this team above all others...
I think the reason many of us love baseball so much, is because there is something about the game that transcends sports. It is unlike any other sport in terms of how even the mightiest slugger, may at some points struggle. It teaches humility, patience, faith, and determination, this game we grasp by the seams.
Like all droughts, eventually it ends, the rain falls, the dead earth springs back to life, and we light that halo up. For those who keep the Angels baseball faith. I salute you. Congratulations Mr. Pujols.
I reposted this section because I wanted it to be read by the fans that would refuse to even look at the boo-jols thread, forgive my repetition, I feel strongly about this.
Sometimes as a fan, we have our faith tested. I believe Albert Pujols has come to Los Angeles to be more than just a great baseball player.
As I have watched Albert struggle, and our team struggle with him, I have admired the man’s dignity, his composure, his strength in the face of adversity, and I have learned from him already.
There are those who want to cling to the deeds of baseball players and leech the pride from those accomplishment to fill the void within themselves, and for all those glory suckers, Albert has not inflated their life rafts of needs. They have been forced to watch and wait. Cowards and victims are seldom patient, their screams of fear and loathing are generally dramatic and premature. They anticipate failure, because it is so close and familiar they can taste it with every breath… let them boo.
Let them exit the stadium, make room for the real fans; for the people that push this team forward with positive energy and passion.
The cock has crowed three times…. the true baseball disciples have seen the light….
