After a day here the Angels overtaxed bullpen was nickled and dimed to death by the Cocaine Cowboy Sunday Hangover squad, it is great to hear that everybody's favorite dog-owning vegan LaTroy Hawkins is getting ready to rejoin the Angels as he works in a stint with the Inland Empire 66ers of the High A California League.
From the 66ers' pressroom:
Inland Empire had the help of an Angels reliever Sunday. High Desert was able to take advantage of a stiff and consistent breeze out over the left field wall to guide them to five home runs. It seemed routine for a fly ball off a Maverick bat to sail off of or over the fence, including one hit by James Jones off of the rehabbing Halo LaTroy Hawkins. Breeze boosted blasts aside, Hawkins faced five Maverick batters and got two strikeouts to his credit in one inning of work.
Offensively Inland Empire was one hit through the first five innings, but by the end of the game the team was able to muster seven runs and a total of 10 hits in the contest. C.J. Cron extended his hit streak to a league best 19 games. Randal Grichuk and Chris Giovinazzo both homered for the 66ers in the loss.
