Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 6 Orioles 0
In need of a pitching performance to tide them over until after the All Star Break, the Angels got a fantastic spot start by 4-A Lefty Brad Mills, the return on trade of the legendary antisublime Jeff Mathis.Mills tossed six innings of three hit shutout ball, striking out six birds and walking none.
In one appearance as an Angel he accrued more positive rate stat energy than Mathis did in his 1,300+ Plate Appearances with a halo.
The Angels bats put on a little homerun show for everyone. Erick Aybar hit his second of the year, Mike Trout his twelfth, Albert Pujols his fourteenth and Mark Trumbo hit his Twenty-Second round tripper of the 2012 campaign. Each homerun came with two outs and each was a solo shot except for the 2-run blast by Pujols. Maicer Izturis chipped in with a run-scoring single too.
After a seventh inning 3-run homerun by Steve Pearce off of C.J. Wilson on Friday night, the Orioles did not score a run in Anaheim all weekend. No word on whether Mils will be pitching for the Angels after the break. Considering the options of Jerome Williams, Garrett Richards and Ervin Santana, the likelihood of Mills starting next Sunday at Yankee Stadium are pretty good.
