I understand the rules for August waiver-wire trade deals - MLBTR has a helpful rundown of the rules.
But I don't understand the waiver-wire August trade strategy very well. I know it's common practice to put quite a few players on the waiver wire in order to gauge interest in that player, but because teams "interested" in making a deal have to get in line based on their record, teams can block other teams from even attempting to work something out.
How might this effect the Angels? Do we unload someone (Vernon?!) or make an acquisition? (bullpen help?)
What do you think?
