The leadership and motivation from field management has disappeared, the talent we have on this team should be right with Texas battling for the division lead. Mike Scioscia has been there too long and Butcher is no Bud Black. When you have a starting rotation of Weaver, Wilson, Greinke, Haren and Santana any other team would be salivating. If you listened to Tim Salmon and Eck last night in their speeches communicating the teamwork and support everybody had on that team in 2002 leaving all egos at the door before entering the club house, could this be our problem? It all starts with your field general and his talent to get across the role of each player and the team attitude "doing whatever it takes to win". Giving Mr. Scioscia the length of contract they did has allowed him to lose his edge and competitive spirit when competing for a world championship. I do believe if Darin Erstad was given that opportunity he would have the respect from the players and the fiery competitive spirit to motivate and lead this very talented Angel team. Mike Scioscia is the problem !!! Will Arte make this change, its like Scioscia has a bubble around him that noboby can break.
