Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 6 Athletics 0

Veterans Jered Weaver and Torii Hunter are known as clubhouse leaders but today, when their teammates needed it most, they led between the chalk lines.

After missing time with shoulder tendinitis, Weaver struck out 9 Athletics batters in 7 IP, and could have gone on longer, having only thrown 94 pitches, but a six-run bottom of the seventh allowed Mike Scioscia to rest his Ace. Torii broke the scoreless tie that inning with a lead-off HR and the Angels bats never looked back. Hunter drove in the sixth run of the inning 8 batters later.

Credit Mike Scioscia for pressing the panic button and returning Hunter to the cleanup spot after an anemic three games served to buzzkill all the goodwill created by the team's prior 15-3 run. The club hits the road for three games in Kansas City over the weekend and a day off before returning for a ten-day, nine-game final homestand ...of the regular season.
