Final Score in Oakland: Angels 8 Athletics 3

Chris Iannetta was a triple shy of the cycle batting ninth. Ahead of him in the #8 slot, Vernon Wells was 2 for 2 with 2 RBI, 2 walks a run scored and a stolen base. The Angels won by five runs and that is how many these two bottom of the order batters drove in for the Angels. Both Iannetta and Wells homered in the game too!

C.J. Wilson had his moments, but this is as one of those starts that at times this season would have made him the losing pitcher after he allowed 2 Earned Runs. In fact, just yesterday, that is how a perfectly adequate Jered Weaver 2-ER performance ended when the Angels bats forgot to set the alarm clock.

Well the bats were unpacked today with the exception of the three who carried the Angels into August: Albert Pujols, Mike Trout and Mark Trumbo went 2 for 14 with 1 walk, 1 run scored, 1 stolen base and 5 striekouts between them, with Trumbo going 0 for 5 in sad and pathetic fashion. But the bottom did not fall out thanks to a hot bottom of the order and a still-sizzling Torii Hunter, whose last few weeks as an Angel have been dedicated to making the playoffs - Torii was 2 for 4 with a solo HR and a run-scoring Sac Fly. At least for one man, it really seems to be all about the ring.
