Wednesday didn't hold much as far as transactions other than the signing of Eric Chavez. That deal pays him $10M over two years, and addresses the Angels' need for a third baseman. The day was spent in an unsuccessful attempt at signing Shin-Soo Choo. The bidding on Choo got to be too expensive, as he eventually signed by the Mets to a seven-year contract that pays him $137 million dollars. I think our last offer was right around $132M, and that would have been an over-pay.
Today's plan is to continue fielding offers for Mark Trumbo, although the need to trade him has lessened. The original plan was to deal Trumbo for pitching at both the major league and minor league levels, however that was accomplished by sending Howie Kendrick to Kansas City, and Peter Bourjos to the Mariners.
Also, late yesterday Turks Teeth received an offer from the Mets for Erick Aybar. New York wants to send shortstop Ruben Tejada and starting pitcher Jonathan Niese our way for the Halo shortstop. What do you think, should the Fake Angels deal Aybar?
