This Week in Angels That Got Away

FORMER ANGEL JEAN SEGURA - Benny Sieu-US PRESSWIRE

How would you like to have a 23-year-old, slick-fielding shortstop who's leading the league in hitting and on-base percentage? Or maybe a highly touted 23-year-old starting pitcher who just overcame said hot-hitting shortstop to win his first game of the year after allowing 2 runs in 6 innings? These players and more exist, and were once under the control of your Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim.

In the first of an occasional series, I have rounded up the 2013 Major League activity of players who were originally signed and developed by the Angels, ranked by playing time. To keep things real, I have included what assets we have remaining in return. And please mention in the comments anyone who I have missed! Enjoy, lament, whatever:

Hitters

TEA AG PO PA NAME AVG OBP SLG (what we have left in return)

BOS 31 1B 23 Mike Napoli .130/.130/.261 (-$28.1 million)

SEA 30 DH 22 Kendrys Morales .190/.227/.238 (Jason Vargas)

I have a feeling I’m missing a couple there.... And boy, making boxes in this publishing system is about as fun as plucking my own nose-hair!
