Angels Beat the Yanks! 5-2 win!

Go! - USA TODAY Sports

The Halos welcomed the Bronx Bombers to the Big A for the first game of this weekend series.

C.J. Wilson and Andy Pettitte went to the hill for the Angels and Yankees, respectively. While both lefties went seven innings, C.J. gave up just five hits and two runs while the Yankees old-timer allowed four runs from eleven hits and one walk. Kevin Jepsen took over for the Halos starter in the eighth and was able to fend off two men on base with no outs. In the end, Ernesto Frieri earned the save to give C.J. his first win since May 1.

The Angels received help from Albert Pujols and Mark Trumbo. Both of which accounted for six of the Angels hits. The Machine even attempted to make it home on from second but was just gunned out by our boy the Yankees left fielder, Vernon Wells. But the Big A had a nice treat for Vernon but an even nicer one for Mark Teixeira.

Los Angeles Times reporter Bill Shaikin agreed with me, via twitter, when I responded to his tweet. Mark Teixeira garners more "boos" from fans because he was not supposed to be a rental. Fans wanted him to stay. Vernon Wells on the other hand was unwanted from the get-go.

Some side notes:

Have a great weekend my friends! The second game of this series is tomorrow on FOX (pending your market) at 4:15pm.
