The Angels took seven pitchers and then a catcher and so with their ninth pick in the draft and so they went right back and grabbed another arm.
Grant Gordon is a Right Handed Pitcher out of Missouri State. He will be 23 in September so look for him to be slotted as a relief pitcher in the MIdwest League or even High-A Cal League with the Angels starving at the big league level for anyone who can contribute to the bullpen.
Dude made the honor roll at college in 2010 and 2011 - but how is his pitching? He was used exclusively as a reliever the past two seasons and specialized in two-inning stint semi-long relief. He pitched in the Cape Cod League last summer and allowed only one earned run in eighteen innings. He is 6'0" and weighs 180 lbs.
While he doesn't have overwhelming strikeout numbers, he fits as a role-player in the Angels barren farm system.
