July 19 7:05pm, July 20 6:05pm, July 21 12:35pm
Starting the series for the A's is A.J. who has been consistent as of late. After eight innings of shutout baseball against the Red Sox, the A's have one all of his last four starts. Going against him is Jered Weaver, the guy who has induced a plethora of ground balls in his last three starts. Fresh off of an excellent interview on The Dan Patrick Show, C.J. takes his straightforward words to the mound. Winning five of his last six, C.J. could earn another win if the Angels bounce around the Athletics' Dan Straily, who hasn't pitched since July 9. The final game of the series pits Bartolo 'I May Be Suspended Very Soon' Colon against Jerome Williams.
Mark Trumbo recently gave us a treat on his view for the second half of the season. He said that "ultimately it's going to come down to how we play, and it revolves around us." Yes, that was a very obvious treat. Trumbo went into the All-Star break very, very cold; however, he's been impressive against the Athletics this season. As a matter of fact, Albert Pujols has also been very good playing against the A's this season. Josh Hamilton not so much... But hey, he did finish the first half much better than it started!
In almost every offensive category, the A's are right behind the Angels. But that doesn't mean much at all. The Athletics are in first place of the division and if the Halos get swept or even lost just two games, it could mean trouble straight out of the gate. Right now, the Angels need to sweep these guys; however, winning two games would be just fine. Progress is progress!
TV Schedule: Every game this weekend can be seen on FOX Sports West and Comcast SportsNet California. Also, if you own DirecTV, ALL games are FREE from July 19 - July 25!
