Final Score in New York: Angels 3, Yankees 11
Jered Weaver got two fly outs to start the top of the first inning in Yankee Stadium. It was all downhill from there. A first inning Grand Slam by Alfonso Soriano would seal the fate and the blowout would remove all doubt, all hope and any point in watching.
In the second inning, oh wait do you even care? Well they scored more runs. Down 8-0 Mike Trout singled in a run so the big thin you care about, his on-base streak, is intact. Josh Hamilton always has a masterful sense of timing and singled in a run. Fans still tune in to see the Weave but tonight they saw his season ERA rise form 2.87 to 3.49. Ouch.
In the bottom of the third inning Weaver struck out Eduardo Nunez for his 1,202nd career strike out (all with the Angels), breaking a tie at 1201 with John Lackey for sole possession of fifth most Ks in club history.
Well pop the champagne! That's all folks...
