Final Score in Anaheim: Angels 7, Blue Jays 5
Angels starter Tommy Hanson struggled yet again on the mound, giving up 5 runs (4 ER) on 7 hits and 3 walks over 5 and a third innings but was rescued by his teammates with some fantastic defense and late-inning fireworks.
LF J.B. Shuck made a highlight reel catch in the Blue Jays half of the fourth, robbing Jose Bautista of a potential 2-run HR (Required viewing: THE CATCH).
In the home half of the inning, 3rd baseman Chris Nelson got the Angels on the board with an RBI single to plate Erick Aybar. Chris Iannetta would follow with a warning-track shot to CF to score two and give the Angels their first lead of the game.
Hanson would be pulled after recording an out in the sixth but the bullpen squad of Maronde, Jepsen, Kohn, DeLaRosa and closer Ernesto Frieri would combine for the remaining 11 outs without yielding a run.
In the bottom of the eighth and the Angels down a run, J.B. Shuck would knock in the tying run with a triple to right center field and Kole Calhoun absolutely hammered a pitch to deep right for his first HR in the majors for a 7-5 lead that would stand for the rest of the game (THE BLAST).
