The Angels season will come to a close on Sunday. Starting Monday, heads will fall across the MLB landscape as managers and front office people become accountable for losing and disappointing campaigns. Will Scioscia be one of those fired?
Why He Might Go:
Arte has spent a ton of money trying to build a winner only to have the team's hopes dashed before Memorial Day. Arte has also hired a young, data-centric general manager to take the team in a new direction.
Why He Might Stay:
$27,000,000. The amount estimated to be owed to Scioscia over the next five years.
Most of us have an opinion on whether Scioscia should be fired. But when it comes to it, will he?
My prediction: Mike gets fired. Arte might not use the term "fired" but Mike is kicked out of the dugout, named assistant or roving something or other, and becomes well paid window dressing. Both men will try to save face, but it will be a firing and the Angels will have a new manager in 2014.
