Final Score in Houston: Angels 4 Astros 0
Bouncing back from his worst start of the season, Garrett Richards pitched his best game of the season, shutting out the Astros over eight innings.
CJ Cron broke a scoreless tie with an RBI single in the fifth inning. Howie Kendrick and David Freese singled in runs in the sixth and by then Richards was cruising.
The highlight of the night was Richards pitching what is called an "Immaculate Inning", three strikeouts in one inning with three pitches each. It was only the seventy-fifth time in baseball history that this feat was accomplished when Richards did it in the second inning tonight.
Richards struck out nine total and allowed four hits and no walks. He hit one batter but it was his night, throwing 80 strikes out of 107 pitches. Consider he threw 21 balls in his previous start where he lasted 2/3 of an inning and surrendered five runs. Joe Smith pitched a scoreless ninth inning - with a 4-0 lead it was not a save situation.
The four game losing streak is history, light up your halo!
