Astros Take Advantage of Shaky Angels Pitching, Defeat Halos 8-3

The Angels finished out their important AL West road trip in increasingly familiar fashion tonight, as the bullpen turned a close game into one far out of their reach.

Final Score: Angels 5 Astros 8

If you're like me, you have thought about the halcyon days of about 18 or so months ago, when us fans could not wait to meet the Angels' new division rivals, the Houston Astros, in league play. They were meant to come into the AL West and give the team some easy ballgames, pad the W/L column a bit. *sigh* Good times.

The Halos finished their 10-game AL West road trip tonight by losing the game, and the series, to the "lowly" Astros. It's really not just Houston, though. It's their entire division that has been making them look silly as of late. Tonight was no different, as they let a 4-3 deficit turn into an 8-3 uphill battle.

Tyler Skaggs got in five innings, but a bad fourth inning would have him leaving an inning later down 3-4. Kevin Jepsen did his job to keep the game close. But it was Cam Bedrosian, in his second MLB appearance, who held the gas can for the Angels' bullpen tonight. The young call-up did not have the command that he did in his first appearance, and gave up four walks, three of which ended up crossing the plate in that inning.

The Astros tried to make it close in the ninth, just to keep us fans interested, but the LOBsters were left chilling in the icy waters of Minute Maid Park's infield, thanks to the typical situational hitting woes. If we're looking for silver linings, AND WE ARE AT THIS POINT, then tonight's would be the fact that Mike Trout looked like he was showing no signs of back problems. He went 2-4 and had an RBI double.

Angels head back home, all of us are bummed. Now show me your sad GIFs.
