Final Score in St. Petersburg, Game 2: Angels 3 Rays 10
WP: Chris Archer (7-6) / LP: C.J. Wilson (8-7)
Things did not quite go C.J. or the Halos' way at Tropicana Field tonight. In the first inning, Evan Longoria launched a ball into left field. This made it 2-0, but the Rays' assault on offense came in the second inning. A trio of singles brought the score to 6-0. The damage was done for Wilson and Corey Rasmus took over to finish the inning and pitch some more.
The top of the fourth inning was when the Angels produced their only runs in the game. Hits from Howie Kendrick, David Freese, and David Freese pulled in three runs. Conger's double put men on second and third. Kole Calhoun, unfortunately, was handed a strikeout on a rather high fastball that ended the inning.
Joe Thatcher was sent in during the bottom of the fourth inning, but his stay was rough and literally painful. Thatcher seemingly rolled his ankle and was escorted off of the field. Michael Roth was inserted to finish out the loss. Roth collected 4.2 innings pitched, with everything going smoothly until the eighth inning. The Rays unleashed four runs and the game was completely out of reach.
