Some hits in a baseball game are more like a laxative than a fan would ever care to admit.
And still we will have to wait and see if Major League Baseball upholds a protest filed in the game by A's manager Bob Melvin.
But as it stands, the Angels are the first team to 80 wins in the major leagues and gives the Halos a two-game lead in the AL West Standings.
Howie Kendrick hit a sac fly with nobody out in the bottom of the tenth inning to score Albert Pujols from 3B after the Halos walked away from numerous chances to score with the bases loaded.
In the bottom of the ninth inning Erick Aybar held off with an infield bouncer fielded by the pitcher - but the catcher was blocking the lane and there was nowhere to go except to straight on bump into the Oakland fielders, as if they were the front line of the Raiders or 49ers or the Stanford Women's Rugby team. The umpires ruled it Defensive interference. If it is a lapse in judgement it will not be overturned, If it is an incorrect reading of the rules the game will be re-played from that point in the game.
Nothing's easy but we can light up the Halo tonight anyway and maybe start hitting with runners in scoring position over the next 29 games we have left int he regular season. And I say we because every fan in the stands and watching at home watched this game like it was a playoff game and it kinda was.
