With the news of Nick Tropeano's season ending injury, I wanted to do a little research on the Angels Medical staff to just familiarize myself with who Arte Moreno is entrusting the health of his player's/franchise to.

There has been some discussion of whether Moreno has been cutting corners. We know that the team doesn't have a very robust scouting department, has minimal foreign scouting, the weakest of farm systems, unhappy stadium employees, etc. When it comes to team infrastructure and human resources, Arte Moreno doesn't get it.

Both Eppler and Dipoto are/were entry level, economy, unproven GM choices. Reagins before them had no business making baseball decisions, and again, an unproven and inadequate GM. Scioscia predates Moreno, so Moreno overpaid for a unheard of 10 year extension for Scioscia in 2009, most likely because Moreno knew little or nothing about baseball, and needed Scioscia to "advise" him.

I must admit, I don't know much about the Angels medical staff. This team is either cursed, or it has some flaws when it comes to preparing the athletes for a full season. Sure it could be bad luck and of course, part of it cetainly is just that, probability, but is there anything that can be done about the part that isn't just pure darn luck.

Richards, Heaney, Skaggs, Tropeano, Wilson.

The premature loss of velocity in Weaver.

The steep and rapid decline of Pujols once he reached this team.

Why is that so common? The big name free agent who falls apart in Anaheim.

Who leaves and gets better. What are we doing wrong? Is it the team culture? The wear and tear of being a west coast team, all the extra hours on the planes? Do we book bargain flights too? Do the player carry their own bags around all year, do they lug their gear around. Do they have to push the team bus, when Arte forgets to pay off the gas cards?

What in the hell is going on here? Any theories or anecdotes that can shed light on this issue?
