Well, looks like Billy Eppler doesn’t want this stuff lingering around much longer, does he? Last night, it was Danny Espinosa. Early this morning, Kole Calhoun got himself a nice payday. That left Martin Maldonado, Garrett Richards and Matt Shoemaker as the arbitration eligible players still left to be dealt with.
You can now scratch two names off of that list, and they are a couple big ones: Garrett Richards and Matt Shoemaker. Shoemaker got himself $3.325 mil and Richards settled with the club for $6.85 mil. Once again, Jon Heyman had the initial news:
Matt Shoemaker, #LAAngels settle at $3.325M

garrett richards, angels agree at $6.85M

What a nice payday for Shoemaker, who was in his first year of arbitration eligibility, and is coming off a season in which he got paid a little over $500K. Jumping up to $3 million and change should put a smile on his face and elicit some cheers in the Shoemaker household.
