I saw a homerun ball hit Freddie Patek's car in the players' parking lot.
Okay, I am not sure it was Patek's, but I reasoned it was because it was the smallest car in the lot.

I saw a game in '73 or '74 featuring home runs from Frank Robinson, LeRoy Stanton and Bob Oliver, which sure seemed like an awful lot of home runs to me. Bob Oliver came to the Angels from Kansas City, where he played with Freddie Patek....

perhaps '70's...

Can't remember if this was '70's or late 60's...but I was at the stadium with my little league(the Harbor Area Baseball organization from Newport Beach/Costa Mesa) We were sitting Field Level 20-25 rows up...maybe less...out in Left..nearly even with the Left Fielder

Anyway...it's only my 4th or 5th time to the stadium...so despite the plethora of shennanigans to get into with my buddies...I'm actually watching the game.

A player at the plate(can't remember who) hits a line drive foul RIGHT AT US!! I calculated that it was going to land 4 or 5 rows below me so I looked down that way to see who might catch it.

Well...some of the other boys were not as attentive to the game as I was and the ones near the eventual landing spot of this foul ball were engaged in grab assing.

To the horror of one of these young lads that foul ball landed right on his right quadricep muscle and caromed off further toward the bull pen. He may still have a bruise from that....he was a few years older than I at the time, and I took a certain sick pleasure in watching him tear up in pain. Not because he was hurting...but because he was older/tougher/bigger than me and still he was crying. It gave me hope I guess...

I learned right then to keep my eyes on the game, cuz you never no what might happen.

Ah, the 70's

Remember how the team would be lucky to draw 10K on many nights? It was so easy then to sneak down into the good seats back then. I remember sliding into the seats in the front row right behind the on deck circle and seeing Bobby Bonds hit a grand slam in a game that we were hopelessly behind in anyway.
