My bet to succeed Ken Macha as A's manager is Athletics Bench Coach and Billy Beane robotic-implant-yes-man Bob Geren

This is great news for the Angels as we can expect more ground-into-double-plays from team Hit-and-Sit Base-Stander Spectators.

With Billy Beane radioing in the commands, there will not be an iota of speed nor a young player within striking distance of the Green-N-Yella Choaksters.

Bob Geren at the helm of the Fremont She-Wolffs makes for an easier divison road for the Halos, and I am all for the hoe-ing of that.

(I will guess Bud Black. Tweaks both the Halos AND the Giants, and keeps Black in California. Good company man who works well with pitchers. Now on the market. A chance to grab him before the Padres get word from Bochte as to what he has in mind.)

And in even better news

It could be that the A's are about to lose Ron Washington to the Rangers. That does two things:

Takes Washington out of the running for the A's manager spot, and
Gets him off the A's staff altogether, where he has a strong presence with the players.

Washington is this year's "invite a minority candidate" obligatory interviewee. I wouldn't be surprised to see Girardi there, but the mumbling I've read is Don Wakamatsu is the current leader.

for what he pulled off in Florida. He is still on the boards for the Nationals spot. He might be devastating to the Halos as a Ranger's manager.

Yeah, but

the Marlins' upcoming talent was widely recognized as being far superior to anything that being brought up from the mediocre Rangers system. Girardi might have had good results in Florida, but can he teach Edinson Volquez how to throw a fastball that doesn't end up in the bleachers?

Aside from rubbing the A's noses in it, why would you want to sign this guy? It would be a terrible use of our resources. To top it off he can not beat the Yankees or other patient teams. His ERA against the Yanks is over eight.
