ALDS Game #1 Thread

Angels @ Red Sox - John LACKEY versus Josh "Blister Bitch" Beckett
3:30 PM Pacific Time on TBS

Star-divide

The key to this game will be surprising and aggravating a bored, spoiled bunch of babies playing before the most narcissistic fans on Earth. The sociopathic alcoholic white supremacists in the stands will take any Angel scoring personally and pout, thus taking 90 percent of the crowd out of the game.

The Angels should score early, score often, and refuse to be intimidated by one-dimensional non-stars who hit for chemically-induced and Gammons-hyped power while pretending the strike zone is the size of a lima bean.

For Fun Before the Game:
Name two Angels who will drive in a run in today's contest. You get one point for naming one, but three points for naming two.

It's Good to Feel the Love
It's nice to see a rivalry developing here with some team other than the "MFY".

In case any of you Halo-heads are out of the country but following things online - DON'T.
I'm out of the US at the moment and found out that a web company called Joost has made an agreement with MLB to deliver all the post season games over the web for free IF you are outside of the US or Japan.  If you're in the US and Japan they're delivering 30 min recaps of each game. Supposedly they are starting these broadcasts on Oct. 4th, so a day late...not sure about how all that will play out or when the broadcast will start but I thought folks might be interested.

Woo hoo -
Here's to hoping the Halos pummel Beckett and win game #1.

Kotchman, Kendrick, Willits and Napoli ALL get RBI's in my universe.  Don't count this toward the OPD thing - I guessed too many folks, but I have a weird feeling that this is a high scoring game - like 7-5 Halos.

I see the kids being the ones that get the Angels through this series - if they get through it.

The Angels will win the ALDS in 5.  My forecast is for the Angels to go LWLWW.  If Lackey gets a split in his two starts the Halos will be alright.  The Angels must get at least a split in the first two games at Fenway.  Game 3?  Curt Schilling is 8-0 when I see him pitch.  Pete Rose's advice is don't bet on a streak to end.

How Boston's inherent (and explicit) racism with regard to their sports teams gets under the national attention radar is beyond me.  You'd better score a lot and bring home an NBA title, Kevin Garnett, or the Chowds will run you outta Boston faster than you can say Emmitt Till.

I hate Boston !
Rev. was right on with his description of the Bosox fans (fans is a polite word for what they are) as "sociopathic alcoholic white supremacists"...

I didn't think anybody understood the personality dynamic of the average Red Sox fan the way I do (having experienced their wrath personally at Fenway on several occasions) until I read Rev.'s description. And if you think "white supremacist" is a bit strong of a term, do a little experiment for me. Everytime the TBS cameras show crowd shots today, try counting the number of african-american or otherwise non-white faces. I think you'll be surprised.

That's how long it took for the Stoneman bashers to emerge.  A masher in this lineup would not change the fact that Lackey has given up 8 hits in 3 innings.  It also goes without saying that a home run is not a quick cure here.  We need baserunners, which is what made us successful all season.  Jeez.

Because of past pwnage
Lackey's 1-10 record against the Red Sox. Because the Sox have a much better bullpen, better offense, better starting rotation ... oh, shite, I already went over that.
Hoping Ervin Santana turns it around in Salt Lake. Go, Ervin!

no, not really.
that's an analyst's and statician's job. a fan's job is to root even in the face of defeat, not concede defeat before the first pitch is even thrown.

It must suck to be you and basking in your negativity...due us all a favor and take your negative shit elsewhere....all you do is bitch and complain about the Angels...year in and year out all you do is complain... give it a rest or pick a new team!

I blame Vlad...
Top of the first inning, one out, and Figgy was about to steal third.  If we get that lead, it changes the whole complexion of the game.

I think the problem...
Why is Izturis batting 5th? That is a f*cking joke. Clutch or not, you don't put a hitter with very little power behind Guerrero and GA and leave Kotchman and Kendrick at the bottom of the order. I would also bat Kendrick 2nd, seeing how he had a better BA, OBP and SLG than OC.

Figgins
Kendrick
Guerrero
Kotchman
GA
Cabrera
Izturis
Napoli
Willits

I'm not saying it would've made a difference in today's game, but still...Izzy at #5 is a joke.
