Whew! ... Miguel Tejada is Not an Angel
Orioles Shortstop Miguel Tejada was traded to the Houston Astros for Luke Scott and a grab-bag of prospects early Wednesday.
In July of 2006 the Dominican All-Star was all but signed, sealed and delivered to the Angels in exchange for Ervin Santana and Erick Aybar. The trade was nixed by meddling Orioles owner Peter Angelos.
Despite the animosity that developed between the two clubs, with Angels owner Arte Moreno breaking the Bill Stoneman vow of silence behind the scenes and openly complaining about the broken deal to the media, some reports had the Angels revisiting the trade this offseason with a lesser package and as more of a "Plan B".
With Tejada an assumed top suspect in the Mitchell report (although it is likely to focus on HgH and Tejada was tied to the steroid Stanozol when outed by former teammate turned rat Rafael Palmeiro), his chances of being an Angel probably hinged on whether or not his name appeared in the soon-to-be-released "Book of Souls", as Moreno is adamant about running a clean, steroid-free ship in Los Angeles of Anaheim.
With no Tejada possibilities for the Angels, it appears that Chone Figgins is the de facto Angels Third Base Man, with perennial prospect Dallas McPherson waiting in the wings to provide the Halo lineup the elusive pop for which it has long been searching.

You know I'm glad too
Tejada is not the problem
McPherson it is........
I know Wood was playing in Mexico but I cant find anything about McPherson. Is he playing in Mexico or is he going to play later on?

We still have untenable surplus
no complaints here
why force the issue now when the right opportunity might be there just a year later?
gary matthews was a desperate move that filled an apparent move and now hurts us with the torii hunter signing. Had we waited, we wouldnt be restricted to only infielders as power hitting targets.
Lets wait it out.
Morgan Ensberg?
please no
10-15 home runs is not THAT important if all the other at bats are painful to sit through.

Dallas McPherson
I want Dallas to rake in Spring Training, thereby forcing the Angels' manangement to have to make a (tough) decision about who stays and plays during the regular season.
though probably not realistc

Unbelievable - DMac not an option
McPherson, 27, missed the entire 2007 season due to an injury. McPherson was placed on the 60-day disabled list March 31 and activated Nov. 13. Originally selected by the Angels in the second round of the 2001 free agent draft, McPherson owns a lifetime .247 average (89/360) with 50 runs scored, 19 doubles, two triples, 18 home runs and 45 RBI in 117 games. He has appeared with the Angels in parts of the 2004, 2005 and 2006 seasons. McPherson has been on the disabled list three times in his career (2005, 2006 & 2007), missing at least half of the 2005-2006 seasons and all of 2007.

I prefer Wood
And yes, I too am glad we avoided the Tejada pitfall. I'm still in the Khalil Greene camp, or even better would be Johan for a pitcher and a handful of outfielders.
The Mitchell Plan?
The Angels, thought to be the best fit, never showed much interest, while the Astros were clearly the most aggressive suitor and offered the best package.
"Nobody knows for certain how these young players are going to evolve, but if you get five, you start playing the percentages, quite honestly," MacPhail said.
