Mariner Loathing

In case you all get too frickin' happy with how the A.L. West is pretty much down to the Puke-Colored Gap-Ads of Fremont and which side of bed Vlad gets up on, HERE IS A REMINDER that Seattle deserves your hatred, Luke, reach down deep and feel your anger, give in to the dark side of hating the lovable Sasquatch rebels and their Ichiro calisthenic cleanliness...

This Fan-Post is authored by an independent fan. Tell us what you think and how you feel.

Grrr
"If ever there was a time for God to be working against them..."

Wow. What arrogance.

In other news, my most recent MVP dynasty (in which I've played 75% of the games), the Angels have just opened July by going 1-7 (lost 6 straight to begin the month) and falling from first to second, behind...you guessed it, the Mariners. Don't know how. At least Fremont is currently 15 games back (at something like 38-55?).

"A's will be elminated in 4 games
That's right... sweep"
-I called it.

116 and out.
Enjoy the Latte's and Sushi, there is not much else in that park.

Oh yeah if you want to see what a World Series Championship Trophy looks like feel free to come on down to the big A.

Sub-Mariners.  I do not need any encouragement.  I FUCKING hate them already.

GMJ step number one in a plan for continued dominance, or step number one in a plan for severe weight loss through explosive vomiting?

pathetic losers is what they are
not only is it funny and sad that they must resurrect their greatest moment in franchise history -- barely winning the AL West -- but i think it genuinely hilarious that jeffy threw in that hi-tech seismic wave chart in order to make it seem like it wasn't in fact a full twelve years ago, but maybe sometime in this century when guys found something else to do online besides look at porn.

obviously, living in the past is the only life-affirming thing a mariner fan can do in the present.

sail on, sailors!

Final out
setting up Tim Salmon as the final obstacle in the game.

And, for the fourth time in four at bats, Randy struck him out.

He struck him out looking on a pitch that started three feet out of the strike zone and ended up only a foot and a half out of the strike zone.

Not that would have mattered, but still.

Funny,
that year doesn't bother as much as 86. Perhaps it was because we were so much closer to the promised land. Or perhaps 86 made me expect failure, and 95 didn't hurt because I wasn't surprised.

I got a 2002 signed ball from Tim Mead, and emailed him about about the WS erasing 86. He said something that I will never forget... 'this exorcises --all-- the demons.' I agree.

absolutely

I just
watched it again the other day... makes me smile every time.

And I was almost directly behind him
so I didn't know the game was over until the fireworks hit.
Fire Mickey Hatcher. An entire generation of Angels offense depends upon it.

Agree about 95
the one game playoff only happened because they had faded badly, already completely lowering expectations...

86 was one strike away ... much more painful...

by Rev Halofan on Feb 8, 2007 4:23 PM PST up reply actions

'86 still needs payback
that's the only grudge i have - the Red Sox - you can add 2004 on top.

2002 took care of all of it, but still we owe them. so sweet to see the way the Mets stomped their heart out a week or so later. what comes around....

as for the M's --- the thing that irks me about the lattes is their record against the A's last year (2-17) - if they would have just played .500 against them, we'd have a second WS flag in Anaheim right now i do believe.

My wife
is from New England, and she knows I hate (strong word) the RedSox. She thought it would be funny to buy me a RedSox hat. I took it to the embroidery shop and had a screw embroidered in front of the B, and 10-12-86 on the back. I wore it proudly to the Fens many times! There are very few things funnier than stepping off the T into a crowd of drunk irish guys wearing a hat that says screw boston.

2005 was to Adrian Beltre and Seattle
what 2007 will be to Jeff Weaver and Seattle -- an overpriced hack!

Hey Jeff, it's now 15 minutes and 1 second!

OTOH
"Gary DiSarfuckingcina is batting second?"

.344 OBP batter that YEAR and a career .292 OBP batter.  Yeah.  You hadda wonder.

0-3.  WTF was Lachemann thinking?  Didn't he have any better ideas?

It is fun to watch Buzzie Bavasi's even
balder son do his best Capt. Smith impression and Titanic the Mariners right into the proverbial iceberg.  He's definitely the "mono/kiss of death/typhus to any team.

do they wear skirts?
THT reports today the even Royals (85-1) are a better bet to win the WS than the Lattes (100-1) - must be decaf this year.

Back off a little.
I have a feeling that the M's will be better than all of you think.  I promise you the Mariners will win the head to head series against the Angels.

nope
Not really afraid of that rev but very Sherlock Holmes of you. Just don't over look the Mariners.  The Angels only beat the M's by 1 game head to head last year.  I know because I lost a bet because of it.

good point
the angels should've clobbered the m's the same way the a's did.

kindly ask your boys to squeeze out at least 3 wins against the a's this year.

by yeswecan on Feb 12, 2007 8:41 PM PST up reply actions

I know
I know, I know.  I was hoping the M's could knock off the A's at the end of the season.  Seeing how I live here in southern cal, I would rather see the Angels in the playoffs than the A's.

i.d. theft again
okay we know where you live, when you were born, your name, i feel like getting a mastercard tonight - what is your mothers maiden name (hint: don't let the guys on the board have any clue what her age is, though)...

by Rev Halofan on Feb 12, 2007 10:41 PM PST up reply actions

Okay
You can let up on the I.D. theft rev but you forget one thing...  I know what you look like now and I happen to go to A LOT of Angels games so you better look out.  Just kidding about that.  I look forward to more of this kind of friendly banter.  I'm sure I'll see you at Angels Stadium at some point this season and I'll make sure to say hi.

And to everyone else on this board my mom's age is... um... 76.
