Chone Figgins Breaks Finger

Doug Padilla of the L.A. Daily News reports the following in his blog:

"The Angels just announced that Chone Figgins broke the middle finger on his right hand. The injury occurred as Figgins tried to field a ground ball in Wednesday's game."

It goes on to say that Figgins thinks he can be ready for Opening Day.

i got Maicer on my fantasy pick. I just saw ESPN and the said Figgy should be back in time by the opener. Not to worry though its not like he broke his leg. His legs are worth more to us then his fingers.

Key point:

......indefinitely after fracturing the middle finger on his throwing hand.

Figgins has a strong throwing arm, but that middle finger helps aim the ball.............(from third base?)

Maicer

As a 3B, we don't lose anything replacing Figgy with Maicer. Before the year is over Brandon Wood is going to claim the job anyway. He'll have a half season debut that will prevent him from being a rokkie of the year candidate the next season. He'll be fine in the long run, but will his debut be more like Troy Glaus 1998 or David Wright 2004?
