L.A ANGELS of ANAHEIM Game 39/162

Monday Morning GAME THREAD Angels @ Rangers - 11 am Game Time
Jered Weaver vs Kevin Millwood

Star-divide

Random Song Lyrics
It's the pause that refreshes in the corridors of power
When top men need a top up long before the happy hour

When the Angels lose at home and I have been at the game, I stop by Gene Autry's statue and drop my head into his hat to reverse the trend.
Let's see if this works on road games...

Gene and I are both Libras with 7-5/8 hat size. I shake his hand after a win.

and her name is Katrina. We must DFA this mission ASAP.

Copy that, time to bring in our *D*angerous *H*it-man, agent Kendry Morales.

Put Kendry Morales at 1B, and move Sean Rodriguez to 3B......NOW LETS GO WIN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

what I'm worried about
is Weaver's pitching style and that launch pad for a ball park that the Rangers play in.  Weaver relies on the pop out a lot and those could equal homeruns today like yesterday's slug fest.  I can't remember if the physics of the baseball's inflated projectile motion at Arlington has been discussed here before.... go Angels

when GA's back?

We need his OBP in the lineup.

by ReggieBullits on May 14, 2007 11:38 AM PDT reply actions

Yep
A true leadoff man.

You know Mike's gonna put Garrett back in immediately after he's recovered.

How about we DH Vlad full time and put Reggie in right.  Put him in left when GA needs "off his feet".

Wait...he did what?

by ReggieBullits on May 14, 2007 11:42 AM PDT up reply actions

IMO
Anderson needs to be off his feet every game.
Ervin Santana To AAA!

by scareduck on May 14, 2007 11:43 AM PDT up reply actions

Willits is a G
I realize there's a small sample size problem, but so far he's playing a great leadoff guy. Gets on base even if it means taking a walk, is a threat to steal (and mess with the pitcher)...

Despite his past heroics, so far Willits has been more than an adequate replacement for GA. He needs to stay in the lineup even when GA returns. Since GA is going to have some conditioning problems, maybe DH him and leave Willits in left?

by ReggieBullits on May 14, 2007 11:51 AM PDT reply actions

Laird flied out to left
and both Willits and OC went for the ball. OC got it but in the process bopped Willits in the mouth with his elbow. Reggie was on the ground for a second and then started to look around the ground (Rangers announcers speculating he's looking for a tooth or a contact, couldn't tell).

Sosh and the trainers came out to talk to him, he decided to stay in the game.

by cardinalwraith on May 14, 2007 11:57 AM PDT up reply actions

It was deep enough that it should have been
Willits's ball, but maybe Willits didn't call him off or OC didn't hear him calling him off.

ends up being worse for the Angels; the Rangers are going to throw their relief corps at us, but the Angels were relatively cruising with WTY on the mound.

What would happen if
the rain did not stop, and they had to stop playing? Would they have to start over some other day? Or would they continue the game from this point on a later date?

by MistaRaggy @ Halos Heaven on May 14, 2007 12:29 PM PDT reply actions

Terrible
Game would start over, score and all stats would be erased.  Not as bad as Paul Byrd losing a no-hitter to Seattle after pitching 4 2/3 innings, but with us up 4-0, pretty bad.

Keep pounding guys
We need to score 15-20 runs off Texas today.  We all know its not enough to have a better record than the Oakie Statboys, we have to win the pythagorean championship too.  You know they are going to score double digits off KC's weak pitching, so we have to destroy Texas.
