Why not....
move Colon to the pen and use him in the spot previously occupied by Speier? His days as a top starter are def. over, but I think he'd be great as a setup man.

Are you kidding?
Just what we need, a reliever who throws 80% fastballs, mostly of the four-seam variety.  That will lose us a few games for sure.  Hes given up how many? 11 or 12 HRs this year in his limited starts?  I say let him throw 6 innings of heat as a starter and if the shit hits the fan, our bullpen will hold while we frenzy hit our way back into games...

Just like Colon mailed it in
So did Larry Santana.  What kind of game summary is this?

http://losangeles.angels.mlb.com/news/gameday_recap.jsp?ymd=20070619&content_id=2036551&vkey recap&fext.jsp&c_id=ana

"The Angels would not score again, while their normally reliable bullpen surrendered six more runs in the eventual 9-5 loss."

Last I checked, Bart 7, Pen 2.

Actually, I think Bart is hurt and hiding it so he can cash in a big free agent contract.  Note to Colon, IT'S NOT FREAKIN WORKING!  Man up to your injury and stop dragging the team down because you want to make more $$$.

Go back to school
7+6=9, right???

Has he turned into the Latino Brando or what?
He looks more corpulent as usual; could that be the culprit for his problems (conditioning), or is it some flaw in his pitching repertoire?

by PieceOfAase on Jun 19, 2007 11:52 PM PDT reply actions   0 recs

His problem is
hes not hitting the corners.  Any 4 seam pitcher will get rocked in the FAR SUPERIOR A.L. if he serves heat right down the middle.  His Velocity is still up around 95, I predict that he gets it under control and wins 80% of his decisions in the second half.  Remember, he has always been a post-all-star break performer.  Mark him down for 15 wins this year, you heard it here first

Not hitting the corners?
Bart is putting all 360 pounds off his body weight behind the ball to get that velocity, hence the lack of control.  Watch his finish, he is not balanced like he usually is.  I hope he can get it together, but right now he is chucking it as hard as he can and hoping it works out.  No pitching involved, just throwing.  He needs to be honest with himself and with the Angels.  Go under the knife, salvage what's left of his career and move on.

While I'm at it
This line from Larry got me too:

"but this time, the Halos' bats could not summon the heavenly power they flaunted just one game ago."

How is 16 singles, 2 doubles and a triple, heavenly power.  Who the hell is this guy, and what business does he have making a living publishing this crap.  Now I remember why I don't go to angels.mlb.com for my news and instead come to Halo's Heaven and latimes.com.

wow, what a hack
does he have some Disneyland Tourist Chick/Hoochie waiting for him at The Catch or something?

If he would have included that
as his last sentence, he'd get a pass in my book.

On a side note:
http://sports.espn.go.com/mlb/powerranking

Now if we can only get a segment in the first 15 minutes of sportscenter, the rest of the country has to STOP SLEEPING ON THE BEST TEAM IN BASEBALL!!!!!!!!!

that just won't happen... EVER. ever... ever...
It's unfortunate we always get the last quarter of the hour to display our awesome repetoire of baseball brilliance on the rest of the nation.

Well then
PLEEEEEZE, we need a WSPN.  If i hear another story about Schilling blowing his nose or A-Rod having a dreadful 0-4 outing I might not be able to hold back the vomit.

Also
Skip Bayless is an IDIOT!  He said today something along the lines of "The Angels aren't the best team in baseball, they're not even the best team in thier division.  Watch out for the A's, they'll win the division, they're a great team" (this isnt a direct quote but fairly close to his sentiments.)

SKIP BAYLESS, please stop smoking crack!

Another gem from the Liberace of sportswriters
I believe nothing that comes out of that fey fluff's piehole; I'll believe Simers before I believe anything this hack from the Dallas Morning News has to say.

Just curious
why is JoMo getting all this playing time all of a sudden?  I can understand in the Dodger series when we need to control the running game, but why now/tonight?  Is he Colon's personal catcher now?  Does it have something to do with his complaining in the times?

Was it just me, or did he not run hard on that double play he hit into.  For a guy to complain about PT and then not run hard is just inexcusable.  Back to the bench if that's the effort he is going to give.

I think
they were hoping he would pair up well with Bart...

Let Nap catch Bartolo
I think Nap calls a better game then JoMO. Maybe Nap can call more offspeed, breaking balls and sliders. Every game I have gone to when Bartolo gives up a homerun everyone in my section knows that JOMO called for a fastball. He needs to mix up his pitches or he will not rebound. It's that simple. I don't think there is anything wrong with Bartolo as his velocity is still there. He is stubborn and needs to be sat down
