LA Angels of Anaheim GAME 89/162 GAME THREAD

Friday Night Game Thread
Dallas Clearchannel @ Angels - 7 PM - Kevin Millwood vs. Kelvim ESCOBAR

Star-divide

Missus Halofan promised me that if we are finished moving today she would go to the game with me.

Post Your OPD GUESSES here.

Random Song Lyrics
Well, it's sugar for sugar
And salt for salt,
If you go down in the flood,
It's gonna be your own fault.

GAME THREAD REMINDER:
This has been an exciting, winning season. But you wouldn't know it from the negativity and bitching that goes on in the Game Threads.

Let's all try to remember that Halos Heaven is not your teevee, don't just incessantly crab here. If you whine in your posts more than twice a game, people will likely criticize you.

And if you throw two or three negative comments about the team in a Game Thread, even if you disguise your constant carping and naysaying negativity as "well-researched stats" - guess what? People are going to engage in personal atttacks on you. Don't like it? Go be an opera fan.

The "DIARIES" Section to your left is an excellent place to make a point about the team that is beyond the scope of the current game. The Game Thread is where Angels Fans gather and root this excellent team on to further heights.

Oh and you can win a tee shirt by getting the highest weekly OPD score. But you gotta go thru ME to get it!

You know what's less enjoyable than that?  Reading grown men who do nothing but bitch that not every little detail is perfect when they're winning.

LAMEST OF ALL
Obtusely coninuing the anticosial behavior that brought on the personal attacks, to the point of adopting a self-righteous sense of entitlement to emulate Shleprock without expecting any consequences from the community.

Even more lame
Declaring EVERY game over in the game thread when the first thing goes wrong.

Also I would like to point out that when the Angels were down by 4 against the Yankees and you declared the game over the Angels came back and tied it.

I'm giving Figgins a big F U. Seattle isn't winning 90. I am not worried.

Here is the fucking point
WHEN a fan does not give up on their team and the team ends up winning, the fan's faith is rewarded.

WHEN the fan gives up on the team (threfore designating himself as a CHUMP) and the team ends up winning, the CHUMP fan still gets to enjoy the victory.

So it is up to the community of fans to antagonize the CHUMPS WHO THROW IN THE TOWEL in order to assure that the lack of commitment on the part of the CHUMPS will at least be met with SOME suffering.

Shouldn't you be unpacking?
If everyone is joyous, happy, and singing melodies during a 12-0 onslaught, something is wrong with said people.

Now if we're winning 12-0, and someone is complaining because the game didn't end in a no-hitter, I could see your point.

by bc56274 on Jul 13, 2007 1:23 PM PDT up reply actions   0 recs

A voice of reason at last
Whatever, I'm going to the game today.  But Jesus F. Christ, the "shut up unless you have something positive to say about a 12-0 loss" crap is unbelievable.

I am jealous.

Although I will point out that you would call the game when the Angels are losing 1-0 w/o any knowledge of the 12-0 beat down that is calling.

Back on the DL
A second X-ray on Howie Kendrick's left index finger today revealed a small fracture, an injury that will send the second baseman to the disabled list for the second time this season.

Kendrick, who missed five weeks from mid-April to late May because of a broken bone on the back of his left hand, suffered the finger injury while swinging a bat during a game in Texas in early July.

It does appear that he is reverting back to the type of hitter he was very early in his career when Rod Carew was the hitting coach, i.e. slap hitting to the opposite field.........it's working.

Not Vlad
How many doubles has he hit off the wall this year? A few more feet either way & he'd have 29 homers, not 29 doubles....

Why does Sosh stack lefties?
It's real easy -- all you have to do to avoid the Mahays of the world is to put Matthews between G.A. and Kotch. Christ on a stick.

he might have WON THE GAME!!!!!!!!!!!

Also nice to see the All-Star SS eat dirt
I like Mike Young (Gaucho), but that GMJ double was three feet away from him, and he choked a couple of times at bat, while the real All-Star SS played well...

Michael Young doesn't have an extra-base hit.....
.....since June 15th.

That almost a month, for you people without calendars.

All Star my ass.
