Joe SAUNDERS vs Matt Garza

Twenty twenty twenty four hours to go
I wanna be sedated
Nothing to do, nowhere to go
I wanna be sedated
Post Your OPD Guesses in this thread prior to game time...

I missed the bonus question.
Bonus answer: none.
:-)
You are not socially unaccaptable
You are a tool for anything short of admiration of the job Bill Stoneman has done. :0>

I say nobody because
play the game of probability, we should have one this game, and I haven't gotten a damn OPD point yet, so hopefully my answer will mean someone does.

OPD
Twins - 1,10
Bonus: Nobody
Matt Garza has faced some pretty good offenses (yankees, detroit) and given up 0 home runs so far this season in 3 starts. His ERA is 0.00 and he has had 10 SO to 4 BB with a below 1 whip. This coming from a 23 year old rookie. Hopefully the angels can get some runs on the board early and let Saunders hold the lead.

maybe this is blasphemy,

I think
Yes, toronto and texas would want a huge bounty in return for glaus and texiera.
Would the trades be of "equal value" on paper? Probably not.
Would either possibly make us WS favorites, assuming our pitching doesn't keep falling apart (which I don't think it will)? Yes.
I think there needs to be the realization that on paper its damn near impossible to make an "even" impace trade at the deadline. Stoneman's goal needs to be to minimize the impact of such of a trade, while bringing someone home for us.
Our farm can absorb a loss, we're built for it. I'm not saying we need to sell the farm. But we can take a loss or two, if the reward is playoff success.
Crap. I get the FSN North broadcast.

Quit being negative, buster.
I'm not being negative.
I'm glad Stoneman kept GA, Cabby, and Figgy vs. the panic happy who think that the left side should be a bunch of minor-leaguers.
As for Jose, he's not exactly Johnny Bench. I'd take a pitching prospect over Jose's last 3 months in red.
I don't have a problem with the trade, either.
I'd just like to see Stoneman do something. I get a feeling on August 1st, I'll be saying "I just wish Stoneman did something"...
I'm not going to go into the detail but I've made

Hayne's hit goes through, that's 2 runs.
Nap's hit in the 1st goes into LF, its 2-3 runs.
Offense has stepped up today.
Saunders best pitch of the night.
Gotta give props to Haynes

I play soccer on Field Turf at school. It's softer than most ground, although, admittedly, the grass will burn you a bit on the knees.
by Carl Johnson on Jul 22, 2007 1:13 PM PDT up reply actions
from Wikipedia
This surface was upgraded to Astroturf in 1987, and in 2004, the sports commission had a newer artificial surface, called FieldTurf, installed. FieldTurf is thought to be a closer approximation to natural grass than Astroturf in its softness, appearance, and feel.

Casey lifting the ball....
Not counting today, here's how Casey's season has swung back and forth:
first 9 games
.400/.500/.640
next 25
.179/.238/.308/
next 31
.450/.530/.750
next 19 (after Russell Martin)
.123/.174/.185
Would love to see another .400/.500./.600 stretch. Or better yet, some high-level consistency....
I suspect you can do that same thing....
I can't watch Vlad and OC expand the strike zone by feet! That is really tough to watch.

After that great win, only one thing remains:
Glaus
by pasquale on Jul 22, 2007 3:47 PM PDT up reply actions
Yeah... His WS MVP title was tainted because
Agree Since 81' ......
His clutch bat would likely be huge in the playoffs where you're likely to face fireballers like Verlander and Beckett. Glaus could always hit the really good fastball ( I'm talknig 94-96mph) and drive it a long way. He is also a very disciplined hitter and rarely swings out of the zone. Most important he strikes fear into opposing pitchers and would be the perfect protection for Vladdy.
except he would not stay healthy
(see G.A., Autumn 2004)
