As a few of you know, Black Magic gave up an HR today. The good thing is that I can provide some context for the box score. BM gave up 3 hits in 7 innings including the HR; he sat the entire gamae at the end of the Bee's bench all by himself until his last innings when some Bee's game him some props. His body language was such that he doesn't feel as though he should be pitching there. That's probably a good thing.

Considering how he's done in the show this year, tonight was actually quite good. He only threw about 6-7 more pitches for strikes than balls but only tossed a high 80's number of pitches, maybe 90, the entire game. He had a little trouble spotting his fastball and off-speed stuff wasn't spotted that well but looked good. Although when he need to make a pitch, whether a heater or breaking ball, he got the job done. Overall, it was a good night and a performance to build on. I wasn't bowled over, but given how he's thrown recently I can cut him some slack.

They got good beer there!

Forget Santana, what about that SLC beer?!?

Weirdly enough, SLC (and Park City) does have some pretty damn good micro-brew. As for Santana, hope the impressive start by Saunders lights a fire under his shellshocked ass.

Santana needs to get an attitude check, and just relax for a second. I hope he doesn't have a mental breakdown, it's not inconceivable for him to return to the show this year.

I just hope he works out his kinks.

Santana will be back in September at the latest

He's had a minor mental breakdown, he'll get through it, and better for the experience.

And if not, I'll eat my free Vlad hat (wonder if it tastes as bad as it looks...)

raley field

in sacramento is a pretty nice field(minus the part about it being in sacramento). i started a rumor that the rivercats and a's would be switching facilities because clearly our friends in oakland get the short end of the stick in that piece of crap football stadium they play in.

Raley Field v SLC

I thought it may have been obvious that the game was at Raley Field in the beautiful town of West Sacramento--sorry about that. They got good beer at Raley Field and I'm certain SLC isn't any worse, it is baseball after all.

Raley Field is a very nice ballpark but the weather sucks!!! I figured the weather may affect BM but he seemed okay. And yes, many people in the growing mid-size city of Sacramento--including a diehard Yankee fan I know-think the As would do great here. For me, the Angels-A's would only be a couple of miles away as opposed to 85.
