Philosophical Moment

Flipping channels in the living room...
...the show is WHO'S NOW on Disney's vomit puddle of a Sports Network, ESPN...

The topic is Derek Jeter versus Reggie Bush... I get into about twenty seconds of the "panelists" blathering about the two and flip the channel.

Missus Halofan observes:
"One thing women do NOT do - you will never find a group of women geting together to fawn over another woman, let alone discuss who should be fawned over more. Men do this. They do it all the time. I'm not making a value judgment, but women do NOT do this."

...and all I can do is award another point to the other team in the ongoing batle of the sexes...

Congratulations, ESPN
After all these years, you've finally found a way to make me cheer for Jeter.

I don't get this show at all
so basically ESPN gets together and discusses which player they've over-discussed the most in the last 10 years or so, in order to adequately continue over-discussing him in the future?

Sports Illustrated had a similar take
on 'who's now' this week (vomit).

i thought - 'how ironic - look who's talking.' because SI today is pretty much a People magazine version of sports.

i wouldn't chalk one up for the fairer sex though - it's their influence i think that pushing sports from what it was, to a pop culture topic.

Re: Mrs Halofan
Wise and lovely lady though I'm sure she is, she may have inadvertently undermined the sisterhood with this observation.  Whilst women clearly don't get together to fawn over other women, they incontrovertibly do sit together and verbally assassinate other women feature by feature. Ad infinitum. And repeat.

Give us our due - at least we can debate both sides of the coin...

Chalk one up for the home team.

exactly
when a group of men get together they attack the weakest...

when a group of women get togehter they attack the strongest.

I was actually getting angry at my TV because I wanted to watch some damn sports on a sports station!
I should be working right now...

Sportscenter this afternoon
lead stories were Vick, the NBA fix, and Bonds ....

i didn't wait around to hear what Kobe did today ...

granted, this was the afternoon show before any games were played, but it's not why i watch Sportscenter for this kind of stuff.

ESPN has hit a new low.
This "Who's Now" is the worst bit of television production I've ever witnessed.

That show is unbearable.
ESPN is now just making shit up.  Cleary they have become the new MTV.

Has Anyone here thought to think
that maybe on this one ESPN has been de-balled.  It is almost like an Oprah show.   I don't know any group of guys that would sit around and debate sports like those balless pussies do on ESPN

I think
ESPN was probably just looking to fill Sportscenter during the summer months when there are only baseball highlights, and no NBA, NHL, or NFL highlights or news to fill up the hour. Just like that week they ran the stories that were connected with the make a wish foundation. those were narrated/introduced by Chris Connelly (I think that's his name) who came over from MTV.

Any question about men taking apart other men bit by bit obviously don't read this blog.
