Bye Bye Barty
Blame of the Game: Bartolo Colon

Irritation in his right elbow? How about just plain old irritation?
We had a few chances to get to within striking range, but the First Inning sinkhole was never conquered.
Cy Young or not, Bartolo Colon has, I believe, thrown his last pitch as an Angel...

Let us all hope so....
I really feel this is the July it finally happens.
Sorry to see Bart flounder like this, but as a veteran pitcher this guy knows better and certainly knows his body better that what he has given the halos. He looks fat and happy and he doesn't give a shit about anything but his fat paycheck. Give this guy some humble pie and he will say thank you and ask for more....the fat pig.
Adios Porcolo Colon

Yeah, he sucked pretty bad...
The hate is piling up on Bart.
He wanted to give his best effort and we all booed him tonight. That's a bummer. He gave us his best and nearly helped to get us to the World Series in 2005. Let's take our hats off and clap for him... Rev might be right, he might have hurled his last baseball for us.

From RotoWorld:
The Braves and Angels are the most aggressive suitors for Mark Teixeira, says FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal.
Rosenthal labels the Yankees, Red Sox and Giants as on the periphery. The Braves would likely have to part with Jarrod Saltalamacchia to pull off a deal. Yunel Escobar shouldn't be as of much interest to Texas, and Escobar is more useful to the Braves right now anyway. Having Casey Kotchman and Ervin Santana go the other way is the deal that would make the most sense for the Angels. A source told Rosenthal that the chances of a Teixeira deal are 50-50.

The only fun I had at the game tonight....
Had I known he was going to pretend to be injured, and not come back, I would have thrown some expletives about his mother on his way out.
Maybe he and Hillenbrand can start their own team.

I had fun punking on an A's fan.
I replied to him, "Yeah it's easy being in 3rd place".
He quickly shut the fuck up. Bastard was sitting right next to me all game annoying the shit out me. After I said that, he left.

Shocked
Unfortunately, this pretty much kills any chance of a trade going down. Santana isn't going anywhere, except possibly back to Anaheim to replace Bart.
Unless...
Darren Oliver has looked a lot better lately (note that his ERA is now below 5). The guy has started 228 games in his career. Might he become the Angels' new 5th starter, with someone else (Jason Bulger? Marcus Gwyn?) called up to take his place in the 'pen?
Might the Angels still be looking to make a trade for a starting pitcher? Moseley's looked like crap since May.

Bart's OK with me
When he was healthy, he dealt, led us to only our 2nd AL Championship game, back-to-back AL West titles, and won the AL Cy Young.
And when he was hurt? He didn't pitch good - and some thought it was funny to make fun of his weight. Geez.

As for BOTG
GA with 7 LOB? GMJ = 0-4 with 2Ks and 5 LOB.
Moseley and Bootcheck = what's their excuse?

The major disappointment
I blame management (in particular, the guys on the field) for not recognizing that he hasn't been right for a while. When was the last time he even tried to throw a breaking ball? If you throw nothing but fastballs to major league hitters, eventually they're going to do something with them.
But I agree that Bart has given the team everything he had, and "left it all out on the field" as they say. He certainly didn't leave anything on his plate (sorry, couldn't resist).

That's what happens ---
You can tell who's been here before 02 and who jumped on the Arte-train. Any long suffering Angels fan might (OK, ISN'T) happy with Bart's performance, but why boo a guy who was the 2nd guy in franchise history to win a Cy Young?
It's obvious that he rushed himself back to pitch (contract year will do that) - but at least he wasn't like Carl Pavano where he went on the DL. Was Bart ever in great shape? NO, but we knew that when we got him and I didn't hear people piling on when he won 15 games a year and was in the top 3 in the league in K's or when he was the best freaking pitcher in the AL.
Get off the guy and just thank him for what he did contribute - Now it's time to see just how deep and how good the farm system is.
